Hi I’ve just been diagnosed with RRMS at the grand old age of 62. I had my first bout of optic neuritis in 1996. The second last year, which with other things led me to the diagnosis a couple of weeks ago. I’m reasonably fit and don’t have many symptoms at the moment, but looking to see how I take charge and work with this if I can.
Hello @rickfitz
Welcome. I’m 43 and I was diagnosed after having optic neuritis in 2000. My multiple sclerosis was relatively quiescent/benign for about 8 or 9 years after that, not as long as yours.
I think that’s the trick for tempering MS, keeping fit and healthy. In those years it did keep relatively quiet, I was a lot more active than I am now, although I was still a youngster back then.
Good luck and best regards,
JP
Thanks for your response. I was on the ECTRIMS patient sessions online and they said pretty much the same thing.
Cheers Richard
Well that’s a bit of a shocker. It is never a nice feeling when something that felt firmly in the past comes back into your life to make its presence felt. I hope that your ON gets better quickly. Let’s hope too that your MS fades back into the background again.
