hi there this is my first post and I’m looking for help with my shacking as the meds I’m taking at the moment don’t really work as well as i would like,I’m taking gabapentin at the moment and was wondering if any one could recommend any other med i could talk to the doctor about, thanks vicky
Hi Vicky
I take Gabapentin and I must say it helps me and my tremors. I did switch to Pregabalin but found it was too strong for me. Maybe the Pregabalin would help you? If your doctor can’t help then your MS nurse will be able to offer advice.
hi vicky
your doctor has had the training and he/she should know what’s available.
my neuro was very helpful and suggested tizanidine for my stiff heavy legs.
just be aware that all these neuropathic meds have side effects.
i have stopped them all except amitriptyline.
maybe a physio could help?

I saw some news on a new type of treatment but I think it may be only of use for targeting a very specific area - it was shown being used with someone who had a right hand tremor who worked as a painter and decorator and he had Parkinsons. I guess you may be talking about something more wide ranging and perhaps it will not be applicable to ms tremors.
I take Cloneazapam. Which helps with the internal type of tremors. I often feel like I’m shaking inside, it’s like my heart is racing and I’ve got a kind of all over shaking. When I put my hand on my stomach for eg, it feels like my stomach is shaking, but when my OH does it he can’t feel anything. I think it’s because the shaking is all within me, so what I’m feeling is my hand shaking. Cloneazepam works on this type of trembling, but I’m not sure if it would work on other kinds of tremor.
