Hello british friends

My name is Alain
I’m 49 years old
I live in France near Toulouse and i have MS since 1995, today it’s an SPMS.

In France they haven’t a forum to speak with others persons with MS, and for me it s very complicated because the speech is very important to fight this disease.
If you are all right to speak with a frenchie, i m ok also.
Bye bye

Hi Frenchie :grinning: From someone who lives in the country which had an Auld Alliance with France namely Scotland ( I’ve lived in Scotland for over 30 years but am actually from England)

Now 70 years old and had a diagnosis of MS about 18 years ago.

The Forum can be very useful and if you read through the various posts/ comments you might notice that they come from various countries around the world. Regardless of nationality I think we are all united in dealing with a life with MS.

How are you Alain?

Of course, and MS is the same unpleasant condition, regardless of where you live.
If you are anywhere near the Pyrenees, the autumn colours must be spectacular at this time of the year.

Hello,
Today after almost 30 years with MS i walk with a crutch/cane sometimes, but my pride says me, today “you walk alone”, i broke 3 ribs on two years…I thought for a long time that i had a benign Ms but since 2018 it s a disaster everything speeds up. So with Ms nothing is ever won !!!
And you ?

Alain

Bonjour Alain, et bienvenue!
I spend a lot of time abroad but am still based in the UK. There’s no passport check for the forum - after all, MS knows no borders. I’ve been to Toulouse once and remember the beautiful light off the rose-coloured architecture.
It is interesting for us, too, to see how different medical systems approach the treatment of their MS patients.

Hello,
Yes i live near Pyrénées , nature is beautyful , but i don t benefit of if : hiking, bike… Bloody Ms
Alain

Hello Leonora,
Thanks for you answer ! I live 70 kms in the south of Toulouse, near the Pyrénées , it s very beautyful, but unfortunately i dont take advantage of it《hiking, bicycle .bloody MS) But my hometime is Marseille , i live there for 32 years. Now my life is job, my family, and 3 times by week i continue swimming and indoor cycling at my home , before Ms i did triathlon. Today my social life is destroyed…
And you, how do you do ?
Alain

I guess I’m not too bad - could be worse etc. I can walk but use a stick for safety and for anything over 10-15 mins of steady walking use a mobility scooter. If it has worked then the attached photo shows me heading off into hills on my scooter.

I also have an electric tricycle but so far haven’t used it much. I am , however, hoping it will get me out into the countryside ( I tried an electric bicycle but my balance has gone and I was terrible on the bicycle).

The bike was my “big love”, before Ms i was doing triathlon but now, just i little swimming and indoor cycling. I try to keep physical activities. But with my job (i’m teatcher), my 2 children, the time is “short”…
