I’ve got a guy coming to demonstrate a Sara Steady today, just wondered if anyone has got one or tried one?

Hello Deborah, I’d never heard of one before, it looks very good. Anything that makes our lives easier is good. I remember in the beginning not wanting anything that made me look disabled . It’s laughable now you can’t get more disabled looking than being in a wheelchair. Let us know how you go on with it. Michelle and Frazer xx sent from my phone
Great link Deb, I’ve been putting off a wheelchair for so long, I’m starting to go crazy.
After falling half a dozen times, burning breakfast & almost breaking my neck for a toilet visit. All before a cup of morning tea.
I’m ready to throw in the towel. Or am I?
PPMS is such a great problem. So simple to understand.
Hi Deborah
Not heard of that it looks like an updated version of a patient turner. Hope it makes it easier for you, let us know how you get on.

Debs, had a look at the link and yeh, it looks a good bit of kit.
Puddle…re your thinking about getting a wheelie…I always try to help people see that using a wheelie is certainly not giving in, as some think /feel, but accepting that it will mean a safer life and being able to enjoy things without being totally knackered.
It`s all about keeping safe and making the most of every opportunity.

Hello Deborah,
I use one on a regular basis whenever I have a week’s respite in the local hospice and it is very good at what it does - providing you have plenty of room to manoeuvre as it has the turning circle of a juggernaut (bit of exaggeration there perhaps)
The default method of transfer at home is the trusty ‘Patient Turner’
As a cautionary note I was once wheeled into a shower whilst using a steady, (trying to streamline the process) but my backside was too slippy on the plastic seat!
Regards,
Stephen
Just been to see the MS nurses and they recommend one to me. Let us know how the demo goes. Have seen them used our YouTube

Slippery shower seats can be overcome by putting a flannel on them. TOP TIP

I’ve got a wheeled walker & a wheelchair.
For the time being, getting my driving licence returned, so I can replace my van & being able to mix with people who don’t take medication as a habit for a condition with no cure. That’s been more important to me personally.
We can’t take the MS away, but living a healthier life is far easier.
After experiencing what life in a wheel chair entails & taking the prescribed medications. Getting my independence back makes more sense. Being stuck indoors & depending on others isn’t great. It allows some people to rob you easier & the medication offered is questionable when it pearlized you.
Having an entire life stolen is not going to happen.
In the last 3 weeks, I have done more than the last 3 years by myself. Listening & taking others advice, has cost me my home, job, car, van, ideas & savings. No more advice from others! It seems a gravy train of corruption when someone is having problems.
Aids for genuine disabilities are very welcome. Activities for genuine people is too. Using people for a political agenda & popularity points is sickening.
Eat healthy & exercise people. It makes a massive difference.

Hi Guys the demo went very well, the only problem is it doesn’t like working on carpets, would be great for our wet room so my husband could transfer me from the bed to the toilet and then shower chair and back to bed to get dressed. But worried about getting to stair lift which is why we needed it as it’s over carpet. So we will have to think about it or see if there’s an alternative has anyone got a suggestion? Thanks Deborah
l first saw one when l was in hospital for a hip replacement. The nurses were transferring patients from chair next to bed to the loo. lt means that they only need one nurse - as two would have been needed to help someone onto a w/chair.
l had no idea that they were being used in peoples homes - as they do take up a lot of space and certainly take a bit of cornering and turning. OK in a large space.
My rollator is my best friend. Topro Olympus . lt has kept me independent and safe.
Do Not Try one of these Sarah Steady’s in a hospital gown!!! Mind the gap.
