Hand and leg stiffnes pain

Hi all I’m after some advice for the last 5/6 months I have had trouble with mainly my left hand and leg it would start after having a busy day or cleaning or doing a lot of physical movement during the evening with my hand so stiff it was stuck in a claw shape and my leg so painful to stand on often collapsing under me . I went to the doctors who assured me although they didn’t know what may be causing it that it would not be the MS . Anyway forward 5/6 months it’s now constant in my hand and on and off in my leg using my hand has become almost impossible at times and extremely painful. It’s like they go into a tight spasm and also go dead / numb at times the pain wakes me up at at night and doing household jobs is becoming impossible. I’m beginning to wonder if the doctor is wrong and it is connected to the ms . Any opinions welcome because I’m finding it hard to struggle on like this . Many thanks Tracy

hi tracy

go back to your GP and tell him/her that the pain and stiffness is severely affecting your day to day life.

GPs are not specialists in ms or any other field.

you may need referring to rheumatology.

in any case it is as well to rule out other causes.

good luck

Assuming you have been dx with MS, have to spoken to your MS team about it or just your GP?

I used to go to a GP who always told me what was not wrong. Never offered an opinion as to what may be the problem, or did anything to help. Once actually said to me ‘What do you expect me to do about it?’

So, having moved to a different GP practise two years ago, have since been taken seriously, been referred to specialists and have been diagnosed with MS, severe Osteoarthritis & Osteoporosis.

What I’m saying is don’t take this attitude, it’s your life. Change GP if necessary.

Hope you get some answers soon.

Hey Kizzy, I get the same, but not to the extent you’ve mentioned. Just started gabbapentin (?) which seems to be helping, but I’ve had numb hands for years…

Please try Cannabis if possible.

Good luck.
