Free Prescriptions

Hello Guys

My GP agreed to sign the form, allowing me to claim free prescriptions.

The exemption lasts for five years but I will be 60 in just over two, so that doesn’t matter to me. It will save me about £270 between now and when I’m 60…better in my pocket I was paying £10.40 a month for a pre-payment certificate.

I don’t go out on my own now, because of balance issues and I’ve fallen a few times. I can’t drive anymore either and get tired easily.

I fit the last criteia, which is; A continuing physical disability which means I cannot go out without the help of another person.

I’m just letting you guys know, in case there is anyone else similar to me, who could also try claiming.

The form is obtained from your GP

Thanks hun.

I found out after a few years of paying, when I could`ve had scripts free, under the same criteria as you.

It is good to post about this subject, to let anyone who doesnt know about it, get the benefit.

I`m 61 now, so dont need to make the claim.

There are some pluses for getting old, eh?

By the way, when will you get your state pension? I`ll get mine next March…at 62.5 yrs…that means no more ESA worries either!

luv Pollx

I think I have to wait till I’m 65 Poll not sure

Got my nursing pension, on health grounds…so that’s helping

Hi Blossom,

funny you should mention, I read this yesterday. I too have balance problems, so I have worked out a way to take the dogs out by using a zebra crossing and no other roads and use this crossing to collect Grandchildren and still cross no other roads. Other than that I am always with someone as I have a habit of falling and becuase I take warfarin, I could bleed easily. i do run out of steam very quickley too. Do you think this would be a strong enough reason for my doc to sign the form?

If its been long term and your GP agrees, that it is unlikely to improve, then the answer is yes. Ask him/her to sign the form
