Hi all
Its been a while since I was last here… approx 3 year’s.
Originally I posted because like many I was having some strange sensations (burning, tingling etc) and feeling very fatigued, I also had some strong brain fog which meant I regularly said the wrong words for things (sock when I meant shoe for example). I had an MRI that was negative and that was the point where I left this site.
Since then I’ve continued to get the symptoms above off and on. On top of that I had a borderline positive rheumatoid factor and developed ‘joint’ pains, I’ve never truly felt they were in the joint more nerve pains, no swelling redness etc of the joints. I was referred to see a rheumatologist who felt I had the beginning of a rheumatoid arthritis or lupus but all other bloods have been negative. They started me on hydroxychloroquine and everything but the strange sensations settled, in fact new ones have developed the main being a patch of goosebumps on my thigh that come for no reason even if I’m warm and snuggly in my bed.
I’ve also noticed some weakness after being hot, especially when I shower or bathe.
The thing that has bought me back here is this week I had a weird dizzy spell in the night and was rushed to hospital with a suspected stroke. Once at the hospital things settled and when I finally saw a doctor after a long wait they ruled out a stroke. However I had one remaining symptom that seemed to confuse them all…
My foot was fixed flat in an in turned position and although I could feel it when touched I couldn’t move it, it was like the messages weren’t getting to it from my brain. It didn’t hurt at all and they said it wasn’t foot drop because it didn’t drag or flap, to walk I had to kind of lift from my knee. Its eased as the days have passed and I have full use again but a lot of cramps and shooting pains. The doctors said it was weird and one even implied it was stress related/psychosomatic, if it was all I can say is I’m not aware of any stressors in my life at the moment.
The closest I can find to describe it is a dystonia. I’ve seen the rheumatologist who doesn’t feel it was linked to a rheum problem.
Theyve referred me for another MRI just to be sure.
Does this sound like an ms type problem to anyone? Not really sure what to think anymore and even beginning to wonder if I am bringing all this on myself in some subconscious way!
Thanks
