First MRI

This morning had my first MRI for brain and spine which took an hour, after reading some of the posts here it wasn’t as daunting as expected, although I was quite tense throughout and therefore lots of muscle twitching going on! A bit wobbly on my feet after getting out, but at least that bit’s done now and it’s onto the next waiting game for results. Fingers crossed all is good and I don’t need a lumber puncture next, don’t think that would be as easy somehow, but who knows! Hope others waiting for various tests, results etc are able to be as relaxed as possible, this certainly seems to help with the physical symptoms.

hi helena

you are so right about being relaxed.

stress is the enemy!

many people have lumbar puncture with no problems.

if anxiety is a big problem you could ask your gp for something to help you relax.

make sure the person who administers the LP is experienced.

lie flat for at least an hour afterwards.

have a bottle of non-diet coke and a bendy straw to drink.

good luck
