Well I’ve managed to get 3 days worth of the steroid tablets and the others should arrive either tomorrow or Thursday. My neighbour picked them up for me just now and brought them round for me. Question I have is should I start the steroids now or is it best to start them in the morning?

I’d make sure I have food in the house first. Steroids knocked me out so couldn’t do anything but lie in bed.
Start tonight and they’ll start working when your asleep. Hope they work for you.

Wasn’t sure if I was supposed to take them at night because of the not sleeping thing- mind you last time I had then on iv at 12 o’clock in the afternoon and I still didn’t sleep for 5 days straight!
Hi, I was on a course last week, I picked mine up in the afternoon, so started them after dinner that evening, the pharmasist advice was to just get started on them, don’t lose a day, eat something and take the first 5!, so I did! Good luck! Jools X
I got the same advice as Val.
But before you start, did you get some Omeprazole as well? If not, you need some to prevent the stomach cramps. On average, you get a two week course of Omeprazole with oral steroids, and just two tabs after IV steroids.

My hospital nurse advised me to wait until the following morning so that they would be less likely to disrupt my sleep. Epic fail. Even though I had been awake all day I found I could only sleep for 2 hours at a time and ‘ping’ I would be wide awake again. One evening I was decorating a cake until 12.30 am and still couldn’t sleep when I went to bed.
My quack of a GP wonders why I rejected them again last week because I’m experiencing a bit of stiffness in the other leg. I’ll manage thanks unless and until it completely seizes up like the right one did. This is not another relapse … 
Hope yours work very soon for you and you do manage to get some rest on them. I take lansoprazole daily but had to double up on it while I was on the steroids as they do give you indigestion. They also give you a horrid taste in your mouth so you will need some sweets to suck on for several hours.

I’ve taken them this morning after lansoprazole and after breakfast - with some sour chewits straight after to take away the taste of the steroids!! Yuk yuk yuk!
Hang onto to those sweets because that taste will keep coming back

Hi katrina, Hope your steroids help you, you will see lots of folk on here with very positive oral steroid experiences and others not, I hope you are on the positive list. I’m not sure regards my course last week… I took mine in the evening and yes my sleep wasn’t good but my sleep is rubbish all the time anyway what with my continence issues, restless leg and cramp. I had a very bad headache and the expected horrible taste! As for benefits, well the bend my head buzzing (can’t remember what thats called) stopped by day 4 and my left side seemed a bit less weak, however I’m not sure if that is down to the steroids or just the fact I was resting, just leaving the housework undone, my young son at school and me not at work instead of my usual pushing myself constantly!..I’.m still off work and back at GP on Friday for review and my wee boy finishes school today at 1pm for the summer hols (I live in Glasgow and the schools here close earlier for the summer!) so some of that rest will be shattered later rest as much as you can…Jools X
Hey jools - my family are from Glasgow and I travel up there twice a year. I always tend to go whn the schools are back up your way but when the schools are off down here- works out easier and cheaper! I’ve had iv steroids before and had a really small dose of oral steroids in the past for a minor flare (they suspect I have lupus as well so it was more for the flare of that previously). I remember with the iv steroids that I couldn’t sleep and felt exhausted so prepared that this might be the same. Last time I got back pain when on the iv steroids an even though I’m only on my first dose of oral steroids today the back pain has returned. Anybody get bad back pain when on steroids? Or does anyone know why I get it?
No idea re back pain and if any connection with steroids, however anything is possible! :-S …Glasgow is great, I live now in the southside suberbs of Glasgow…take care Jools X
Go easy on the sugar when you’re on steroids. Can get steroid induced diabetes I was told by my MS nurse.
