Fantastic day in york

Yesterday me, Isabelle and Frazer went to York for the day. I’d been planning it ever since our holiday there when Frazer couldn’t go because he was ill. Well we had a fantastic time! Sometimes i really feel the need to do these " crazy " adventures just incase of the one day when i cant anymore. We got up early an Lee took us to the train station early in the morning and we got the train to Manchester and then to York…Travel assistance was brilliant. We had a lovely day even though it poured down in the afternoon. We even got our picture drawn. There is a man who does fantastic caricatures, so we got ours done, It’s so good Frazer looks amazing and me and Isabelle look good too. The only thing that went wrong was my chair started to lose power, the battery doesn’t hold its charge so i had a scary moment when the colours started to go down on the control quite rapidly. Isabelles only a slim little thing so i knew we were in trouble she couldn’t have pushed. and then we found the shop mobility place They were brilliant! We sat in drinking coffee while they charged it up for an hour…And Frazer was delighted because they gave him a bag of doggy bones.

Well Michelle, you know how to party.

I always view York and Chester in the same light. Lovely old places full of history. I know the feeling of the fading batteries. But these mobility shops are good. A few weeks ago a nice man in Bromborough put the front wheel back on mine and didn’t charge me. I gave him a tenner for the RNLI box in the shop. Now you’ve got me thinking about another adventure. Me annd my mate will be visiting an old friend in Felixstowe in November. Where’s Felixstowe? At the end of his foot.

best wishes, woof woof, Steve x

Yes York and Chester are very similar both with Cathedrals and loads of History. I love the atmosphere, we spent a lot of time down by the river and Isabelle collected loads of conkers. I’m absolutely wiped out now, I can’t believe how exhausted i feel. It was worth it, but i can’t do what i used to be be able to do. I think I’ll have to get a new chair mine is so worn out i’m not sure that its worth getting new batteries the gear box needs replacing. I was hoping the nhs would have provided one but they’ve not got back in touch. I have a manual chair from them but the waiting list for an assessment for a power chair is very long and I’m not sure if i meet the criteria as i still have some mobility inside my home.

I hope you have a good time in Felixstowe… I love your jokes.

You are right Don , the wheelchair disaster added to the fun…years ago when we were running out of petrol you could put the car into neutral and roll it down the hill, i did think of doing that with my chair but i think id have caused an even bigger disaster on the streets of York. Anyway it was lovely meeting Judy the kind lady at shop mobility i think it made the day having coffee and a friendly chat in her warm shop while it was pouring down outside.

Hi Jackie, Edinburgh is a wonderful place too. I remember camping there with my Mum and Dad and Nana when i was 6 it was lovely. I went again recently with my son on one of my trips to Glasgow but it poured down and Molly was difficult that day so i didn’t get to see much.

The last time I was at my dad’s house one of the front wheels fell of my chair. My dad offered me his but we couldn’t blow the tyres up. I was rescued later that day.
