Fampridine prescription

I have a private prescription for Fampridine but am struggling to get it dispensed. I’ve been told by my local pharmacist that it has to be dispensed by a home care service and I have to be referred there by my hospital. Does anyone have any experience or advice? Thanks

Sorry , no I don’t have any experience of this. I see from the MS Trust website that it’s approved for use in Wales and Scotland but not England. Is it worth going back to the prescriber and asking what to do and how any other of his/ her patients have proceeded with their private prescriptions?

Hi Suz , The private prescription needs to be forwarded to a company called ‘Sciences’ (Formally Healthcare at Home), once they have processed it which normally takes a couple of days they then take payment which is around £186 for a months supply, 10mg twice a day, contact number 0333 207 9882 , give them a call and explain what you are trying to obtain, they are pretty helpful and will get it sorted for you.

Thanks Martin, I will try that tomorrow. I have read about a 1 month free trial. Do you know anything about that?

From memory there was a free trial although not sure if its 2 or 4 weeks, if you ask them at Sciensus they will let you know, hopefully you may experience some benefit from taking it.
