I am presently experiencing pain behind one eye. Its a socket/orbital pain (rather than like a sty or whatever)
I do have irritated eyes a lot in the sun, and migraine and some dryness but its a dull ache behind. I havent felt need to take painkillers though last night did swither but then i just fell asleep
I have had it before and think i asked optician about it (showing, not for the first time i have had some query of weird stuff that goes on)
I have a vague memory of some reference to optic nerve then but of course cant recall if it was good or bad, but obviously not enough for me to pursue then. I do have narrow/closed angle glaucoma risk but think thats very much a bolt of lightning that cant be aovided
However, i have no pain on movement, and no vision or change. Yesterday morning mind you my work laptop showed ghosting (rather than double vision side by side ) text on all the e mail/ reports etc and nearly had heart failure. However, immediately went on to my phone/kindle/own laptop to check if consistent as could see everything else fine otherwise and no issues - so think it was in this case an IT issue
My eyesight is worsening but only for reading so def age related I think
So wondering if anyone has O.N but with only pain and no other changes? Also does it come and go? I had it last night when came out the bath (so then worrying re heat impact…) but its appeared this morning again after picked up phone to look at it
I just want to be able to report to neuro when I ever get an appt. In the meantime I have got optician appt too
Not sure i want them to deliver any bad news mind you if i am months away from any appt…
Thanks. Keeping a diary but just wanted to know if ON can be just pain , can come and go through day or always has vision loss. Keen not to ignore it if something else an issue but i assume its just a potential symptom
I have painful eyes with no vision loss. Have been reassured several times by professionals it’s not ON. Apparently that is so sudden you’d know the date it started and it would get worse fast it wouldn’t creep up on you slowly. MS can affect vision in other ways though, not always ON, so it is definitely worth noting when it happens. I eventually had an evoke potential test for the eyes which showed a signalling delay. My neurologist is on the fence as to whether or not it’s significant (the delay was slight) so I’m having more tests.
So to me it doesn’t sound like you have ON which will hopefully help you to relax in the meantime. I think you’d know by now if it was that and your symptoms would be more severe. But yeah, definitely note it down as they are always interested to hear about the eyes. Hope this helps and reassures somewhat. If you know your eyesight is getting a bit worse with age (totally normal) then it could well be linked to that and you may just need your prescription adjusted or some reading classes xxx
Just to say as well - obvs don’t just take my word for it. It’s just my opinion on my own experience but If they do start to get worse get seen by someone quick, GP will want that call as if it were ON its much better to treat it promptly. Good luck and hope it feels better soon xxx
Is some reassurance, as i can see it doesnt fit the profile but when you check, all the similarities for symptoms have similarties + + + so does feel a bit wretched trying to sort wheat from the chaff. Know also iif you have some active symptoms for diagnosis criteria you need 2 seperate incidents hence trying to find patterns or whatever. Not that I actually want anything … I do also have T1d so trying to sort wheat from chaff from something else in the mix is an additional variable. Oh for a genie and a magic lamp…
I would head to A &E absolutely if it developed though steroids is the treatment which is a joy to manage with TId as had them before for hives breakout. I have had the eye pain over several years on seperate occasions. Got appt Monday so will get them to check optic nerve and in their triage call i told them had eye pain so .
Thanks charl84 I know i am tormenting myself just now but its hard to relax to put things out your mind when confronted by things. Also because i know NHS remobilisation will nean longer lists than usual. If i had nothing i would be at peace whilst waiting but…
