Hello all i have relapsing omitting ms , i was diagnosed in 2017 but before that they thought i had mini strokes from 2007 till 2017 but they were relapses. I’ve struggled alone as not many people understand as i always get your disabled don’t seem anything wrong with you i just smile and say well i am.
I’m 52 and I’ve decided to but myself an electric tricycle ( because of balance) I’m overweight and felt this was the best way to start as aerobics is definitely a no no and i don’t live anywhere near a pool, i do eat quite healthily but i need that extra thing to help me.
Has anyone done exercise to help with their weight and mental health?
Just wanted to say good luck.
You might want to consider investing in a physio assessment and a programme of exercises tailored to making the most of the strength and balance improvements that are available to you.
I know what you mean about aerobics classes and similar – I have always avoided classes like the pest because I can’t do half the stuff and that just makes me feel cross and stupid. Tailored Physio exercises, however have made a real difference for me and helped make the most of the mobility that I do have.
Hi Trixie B.
Is the attached link any help? I think you can find similar things on the MS Trust website
Hi @TrixieB similarly, are these videos of any use/ interest?
Getting an electric trike is a fine idea and hopefully, a few trips around the local park will do wonders for raising your spirits.
While exercise is great for general health, it doesn’t do too much for weight loss, probably only about 20%. It might be worth asking your GP if you could see a dietitian, for a more informed view.
thank you ill have a good look at this
