Hi All Feeling rather sorry for myself today. I feel really down about work as I feel like I cant do anything right. I dont seem to have the energy to keep going and keep fighting to get up in a morning to go to a place where Id rather not be. As Im worried I really will mess something up. They keep the work coming thick and fast but I dont feel I can keep up and Im really struggling. I have thought about cutting down my hours but it really isnt an option financially so dont know what to do. My symptoms seem to be getting worse and I just never seem to feel happy at the moment. Sorry to be so negative but I dont know where else to turn xx
I think uve done well to carry on working i was a carer when i was diagnosed and had to give up as i wasnt allowed to use hoists with the vertigo my partner goes to work so i dont have to can u not afford to give up because you have a morgage or are u renting? X

Hi Sammie, oh dear love, I know that feeling of getting up in a morning and just feeling so miserably weak and dragging myself to work.
What type of MS have you got? The reason I am asking, is do you get times when it goes into remission and you feel relatively well again?
If your`s is more of a progressive type, then it could be likely to worsen or stay much the same.
In that case, how will you continue to work, when you are so debilitated hun?
I was in that boat and it was thought I had PPMS and the progression was rapid.
I took a week`s self certified leave and then as I felt no better at the end of it, my GP put me on 2 weeks sickā¦this went to a month, 3 months and so on. I never went back and I was already needing a wheelchair, part time at this point.
Like you, I worried about how we would cope financially. But I was seen by a doctor of my employer`s choice and he certified me unfit to do the job.
After that I was retired on ill helath and the payout was much more than I`d ever imagined. I was 47.
I went on Incapacity benefit (now ESA) and DLA and we did manage.
Give some thought to your future working life and your health issues, yeh?
Sorry if this all sounds negative, but I only meant to offer advice hun.
luv Pollx
Hi Poll Iv got RRMS. Fatigue and burning in my legs seems to be something that never gets better. Im in the process of applying for PIP and hoping that if I get anything I will be able to but my hours down by 1 day a week. Do you mind me asking how being retired on ill health works? Xx
Hi again. No, I dont mind you asking.
Only the way it worked for me, could be different for other folk.
I worked for the local authority and had been with them for 15 years.
Ill health retirement is much as i described in my previous reply.
Just to re-cap;
you go on the sick, with your GP giving you sick notes, which last longer and longer.
your employer makes an appointment for you to see a doc of their choice
that doctor decides if you are fit or unfit to continue with the job you are employed to do.
if he declares you unfit, your OH finds out if there are any vacancies which would suit you
if not, then you are offered ill health retirement.
Thats about how it worked for me.
The whole procedure took 8 months.
My LA pays 6 months on full pay, when you are off sick, then 6 months half pay.
luv Pollx
Thanks Poll. You have been a real help. Although I dont think i will be retiring any time soon but your advice has been really helpful xx
