Hi
I have SPMS and was awarded DLA indefinitely about 18 months ago. I was not expecting to hear from DWP until being invited to apply for PIP some time after October 2015 but yesterday received a letter from DWP saying they want to review my DLA claim. “We require some additional information from you to determine whether you are receiving the correct rate of DLA”. My condition has not changed much since my orginal claim and I kept a photocopy of that claim and am also a member of Benefits and Work so I guess I will be able to fill in the form easily enough - stressful though that will be. My question though is - does anyone have any idea what has triggered this review?

This is what I found out online:
The Right Payment Programme (RPP) is a system for checking that your disability living allowance (DLA) claim is correct. It was introduced in May 2007 to replace the Periodic Review (PR).
The RPP takes a sample of 12,000 DLA cases each year (there are 2.5 million people on DLA). Of these, 3750 are chosen at random and the remaining 8250 cases are chosen from those awards, which Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) research has shown, are most likely to change.
If you are selected, you will be sent a form to complete and return by post. This is based on the DLA claim form you completed. Once you have returned it the form is considered by a special team of decision makers. If these decision makers consider there has been a change in your entitlement they will change your award. In some cases you will be contacted and asked to supply more information before a decision is made.
I would have thought that they would be too busy trying to get PIP sorted out without double checking people who will have to reapply soon enough but that would be too sensible. Basically Hilary you have been chosen at random.

Thanks Jane, that’s helpful. I was starting to feel a bit paranoid, thinking that someone had reported me for some reason. I agree that, given the mess that DWP are in with PIP and other benefits, they would leave those on indefinite awards alone for a little while. Why couldn’t I be chosen at random for something else - like one of my Premium Bonds coming up? Ah well, could be worse I suppose.

Hilary, I had one of these a few years ago, it was a big form but quite doable, didn’t take that long to fill in, they just kept my award the same. Tbh I didn’t worry about it and filled the form in myself quickly in an afternoon while the children played around about me. I didn’t even keep a copy and I didn’t get help from anywhere to fill it in. Maybe I was naive but I just thought it was a formality and they wouldn’t change my award. Didn’t even think about it after I posted it back. I’m guessing you’ll be kept the same too, don’t worry.
