Does anyone else have a creaky neck, and tight muscles in the neck? I find it uncomfortable at night and I’m wondering about what sort of pillow might help.
I have a very creaky neck, fortunately no tightness or pain. I did have neck problems years ago, the Osteopath I was sent to said to stop sleeping on my front or side and to use only one pillow she said that using two or none was asking for problems. Sorry don’t know about special pillows hopefully someone else does.
Hope your problem resolves itself soon.

Sorry I don’t have a creaky neck but maybe the pillow that doesn’t allow you to move much can’t think of the name but you can get mattresses the same. Sorry it’s like give us a clue. Maybe someone else could help me out.

Is it a memory foam pillow you were thinking of Pollly?

Thank you Pam. I knew someone would know what I was trying to say.

Hello.
I used to have real problems with my neck. It was especially bad in the evenings. But it went when I retired. It may have been related to stress and not MS at all. Or perhaps something to do with not being able to move very well. I’m sure there’s an answer and it’s worth persisting,
Best wishes, Steve.
Hi Lapwing,
I have a very crunchy neck and get spasms that go up into the muscle at the base of my head. It’s very painful! I’ve tried several pillows including memory foam but the one I find the most comfortable is a very soft and squidgy feather and down one.
Take care,

Thank you, folks - the memory foam pillow sounds like an idea to try.
Steve, when I think about it, it could be stress-related - the first thing that happens with me when I get stressed and tense is that my neck/shoulders go stiff. Hopefully my physio, who retired recently, will be replaced soon. Perhaps I need some exercises!
That’s helpful Nina - I’m also wondering if my change of pillow has something to do with my worsened neck crunching - I thought a slightly firmer, chubbier one was comfier at first, but perhaps I should try going back to the softer one - even if I do have to beat the proverbial out of it every morning to fluff it up!
I do hate this crunching neck thing - it feels like I need oiling.
Me too! It’s really freaky, isn’t it. I try to remember to turn my body not my head. Like you the muscles in that area are always very solid, if my son massages my neck and shoulders he says it like massaging stone!
Hope you’ve had lots of interesting birds up there this spring?

It’s a strange spring, many Oystercatchers are not on their breeding sites apparently, and they are normally laying by the end of April. Currently the winds are cold, coming straight from the Arctic, and there are hail/sleet showers with some lightning!
I haven’t had the chance to do much birding - I really need to change to an automatic car now. My old manual is so stiff and heavy to drive. But I have seen some of the first arrivals of the migratory Wheatears from my sitting room window! Amazing that they have flown all the way from Africa, despite the northerly winds.
It is strange…we have had hail down here this morning! I’ve got Canada geese goslings that hatched on the same day as last year and mallards that were a month early.
A Wheatear in your garden…sounds like my idea of heaven!
Hope you can get out to do more birding if you swop you’re car…it’s so good for the soul!
Take care,

I’m on my second Tempur pillow, the lady in House of Fraser told me off for chucking the first one tho! She explained that the fabric was basically a semi-liquid so my complaint it had ‘gone a bit hard’ was really a case of me not giving it the treatment it needed… you need to plump it up daily and not too gently either. I had been doing it but just way too gently. I’m not sure exactly when I bought it but we get along just fine now I can confirm it supports your neck very comfortably. I had a memory foam pillow from Costco before that but not great for me so I’d def recommend Tempur.
I think my husband has gotten thru at least 3 regular pillows since I go it.

Pillow plumping can be good stress therapy!
Thank you Sonia - I’ll look into Tempur!
