cramps in hand now!

Hey all

Well after my unusual episode of R hand tremor when I was teaching on friday, my hand and fingers hurt the following day, and I’ve noticed a cramping sensation in the fingers and running up my arm. I guess if I’m honest I noticed my R hand feeling stiff and a little painful a few weeks before when peeling spuds and chopping and after scrubbing and cleaning lots. I just put it down to doing too much as it went after having a break. But now it feels like it hurts to physically to straighten my fingers in my R hand (more so my last 3 fingers). The sensation is worse iif I’ve been having to hold or grip - not necessarily when I write - but for eg if I hold a a bag or peel or use my hands when I test patients at work.

I’m not sure if the cramping and the tremor in the R hand are related. All my previous symptoms were always L really. And I guess the symptoms are subtle - if you look at my hand you won’t notice much though my partner noticed I was dropping a lot yesterday.

I guess because my symptoms noticeable but not terrible I’m in two minds about whether to tell the neuro sooner. My next review is april and the last thing I want to do is go and for her to think I’m a hypochondriac.

Any thoughts?

If it’s not bothering you too much, then I’d be tempted to just see the GP for now, if I were you - get it on the record. If it gets worse, then you should definitely contact your neuro.

Mushrooms, bananas and things containing quinine can help with spasms - maybe worth a try?

I don’t know anything for tremor, sorry :frowning:

I hope it doesn’t develop any further.

That sounds like a good plan Karen. I’m due to see my GP about my skin anyway so I’ll book a longer slot and can mention my hand too. Been eating a banana a day and tonic water is on my shopping list. I love mushrooms but partners allergic to them. :frowning:

Got a crazy clinic this afternoon so will know if my hands feeling worse by the end of the day or whether things are stable. Sometimes its hard to know whether something knew is happening when it’s subtle (not that I’m wishing anything terrible) and you can feel it’s affecting you but other people can’t see it.

Thanks again for your advice. As always you’ve come up with a great plan of action
