Covid19.

Just read newspaper article about Covid 19 after effects.

Number of people recover well initially but then are experiencing quite severe symptoms - many of the symptoms people describe are typical m.s. symptoms - weak muscles, numb feet etc …

Oh hell, that’s not good…just wish people would stick to the rules, because if they knew what we go through they wouldn’t chance meeting up with other’s.

covid can kill people

I worry more about my MS situation in the years to come than I ever do about Covid. Don’t get me wrong, I follow all the rules and guidance but I don’t ever dwell on it. Whereas MS is always there, lurking in the background…

but is Covid actually triggering m.s. off in some people ??

if the Epstein-Barr virus can do that why not Covid ?

I believe stress can trigger an MS relapse, so I guess yes, worrying about Covid could brimg on a relapse with the symptoms you originally mentioned. Like I said, I don’t worry about Covid outcomes for myself, I’m in good shape, my Covid concerns are for my family and friends, same as most people I guess. Don’t know anything about the EB virus so can’t comment on that point. We’ll get through this. No question.

I’m becoming more concerned about ‘long Covid’ which I’m hearing more about. The thought of some of my usual MS symptoms being amplified and my ‘normal’ being even more difficult is a stressful thought. It’s not easy, but am trying to focus on the things I can control, and reducing other stress as much as possible. Walking when I can, gardening and mindfulness are helping.

but are perfectly healthy people who get Covid starting with M.S?

year after starting this conversation I can say there are a lot “post covid” symptoms. I’m the lucky one who didn’t have covid yet touch the woods but my friends who has that say they have phantom smell, regular food tastes different, bad sleeping and memory loss
Tbh I have high anxiety for the covid
I’m trying not to leave my house when it’s not necessary, thank God (removed by moderator) online stores and food delivery exist lol

Me too. Not so much for myself, but for everyone. I remember seeing stuff early on about people who’d had COVID suddenly developing heart problems; there have been stories about people suffering cognitive decline after COVID. I also wonder about the effects not so much of long COVID but just the way COVID might damage the body or immune system. Like, having some illnesses when you’re pregnant can have an effect on the baby years down the line. Measles infections have been associated with long term mortality from other infections, long after the measles infection is gone and done with
(See https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/8/11/e021465 - “The results showed that measles was associated with increased mortality from other infectious diseases over a period of more than 2 years”). We know this infection can cause long-term symptoms - though we don’t know how long because it’s still a new thing. We know it can potentially damage organs like the heart and lungs, and even if that were super rare, it would still be a lot of people at this point. It boggles the mind that there are people out there who still seem to be operating under the notion that it’s just a cold with a PR team.
