Council tax just skint me...grrrrrrr

This is a good place to let off steam. Mark is unemployed and I am on ESA. We get between us the grand sum of £112.45 a week… We get council tax benefit. I just checked my bank account to find a payment of £106 taken by the council. I am now overdrawn…why??? Pat

phone them and ask. tell them that you are struggling.

you may be lucky and they may admit its a mistake.

if not, ask them if you can have time to pay.

If the payment went out today you can go into the bank and they can return it. Only works for same day transactions as far as i know though, then speak to the council and offer what you can afford.
