Has anyone any experience of using complementary therapies? I’m thinking of things like acupuncture. I’m taking 600mg of gabapentin a day and weekly Avonex injections. I’m still getting quite a lot of muscle pains and problems with rib pain, it feels like someone is trying to use my ribs as an accordian!! I’m really not keen on taking any more medication and would like to find something that may help along side the medication.
Also my weight is rocketing! I’m going to two exercise classes a week and try to swim twice a week as well. But I’m having real problems motivating myself to eat healthily. I’ve read about things like ultra low fat diets to help MS but they seem really difficult. Any advice would be welcome.

why dont you try it , i seem to have a high tolerance to medication so use meditation and relaxing cd’s but know the physio was also going to try accupunture if these dont work, it is like reflexology it works for me but cant explain why
Have you ever tried the oxygen tank therapy? Sorry the proper name escapes me at the moment
@smudgey it’s hyperbarric oxygen therapy or HBOT
i’ve tried loads of complementary therapies. they all have the benefit of being very relaxing.
a sports massage gave me the most relief but by heck it hurts!!!
good luck lynne

Thanks Carole. Does it actually ease the ms pain or just relaxes you?
hiya
the biggest help to me was meditation. certainly not a quick fix but that is what has got me through the last 6 months. i have been a reiki master for over 10 years but the most helpful thing was meditation. i am on minumum medication-like u want to take as little as possible. good luck and stick to ur gut instinct…

Hi Lynne,
These past months I have been on one of the ultra low fat diets, this one created by Professor George Jelinek and I have found this very, very useful. If you would like to look into this, you can read all about it on www.takingcontrolofmultiplesclerosis.org.
The evidence does seem to add up, and quite frankly I would even roll naked in stinging nettles while chewing tin foil if this might improve my MS!
Best wishes,
Moira
Hi, I`ve tried acupuncture a few times. The longest I had no pain in feet was 36 hours.
reflexology just felt sooo good, but didnt do owt for pain.
Try it, dont think it can harm.
