Cannabis

Hi,

Cannabis effects everyone differently. The beneficial effects are pain relief. It used to mask me feel very ‘relaxed’ but that was yeas ago. I’ve heard so many stories about cannabis or dope bought on the street. It varies in trength and can affect you mentally.

I have used sativex but did not do me any good and MS consultant will not prescibe Sativex because it will not help me, don’t suffer the ‘right’ sort of pain. Instead use Gabapentin and Baclofen

Thanks,

Patrick

This is a very interesting thread. It appears many with MS do use weed. Clearly those involved in the justice system have to be very anti anything illegal.

I have been using for a while now, in home-grown, organic cake form - not a la Corrie, as that’s not how it’s done! Coffee won’t work either unless you have dissolve your produce in alcohol first. For those interested there is an abundance of info available. I have stated on another thread my GP, nurses and two consultants are not only aware, but clearly unofficially approve as it has helped vastly - not just pain either.

I have had adverse reactions to prescription alternatives & have been left with little alternative, which is how I started - life without any med, or even alcohol was unbearable. There is little surprise when you read the data on many of the drugs prescribed for people with MS that there are serious side effects. You need to weigh it up yourself. Surely it is so often the case that MS can wreck the life of sufferer and those closest to them? Particularly when progressing? Self help should not be deterred.

You can acquire the medical strains which are legal elesewhere and are used for all sorts of conditions.

I would welcome more quality unbiased research. It’s not just about us lot, there are terminally ill people in desperate need of options for pain relief. Their prescription alternatives make cannabis look rather tame.

I knew it every day. My carer bakes biscuits for me and I have one every evening to help me sleep. I think you must be careful to get some stuff that is not too strong. If I take it during the day I find it helps my coordination. I am in a wheelchair though so I don’t think it would help if you are trying to walk!

I think its a personal decision, and as many have said here, prescription drugs can and do have some really horrendous side effects, immediate and long term. I’ve actually ended up in hospital for two prolonged stays due to drugs prescribed for ms. Needless to say, I’m extremely wary of any prescription meds now (i wasn’t before) and rely on my homegrown, together with meditation and mindfullness tecniques, with the full support of my medical team.

I smoke when my body needs it no tobacco just an “ital” as we call it , it helps my pain, stiffness, mood and I sleep a lot better , people that have had bad experiences generally are smoking mixed up crap , I don’t encourage anyone to take it but it works for me

I used to smoke weed when i was a teenager but stopped as i’m a bit of a lightweight with it and it makes me fall asleep. i was dxd last year i started smoking it again as i’m pretty much at home every night. i don’t suffer from pain but it does seem to help with my bladder. I know some people who dont have ms who’ve smoked it for that long that they’ve pretty much become dependant on it and smoke a joint in the morning before they go to work. It doesnt seem to affect them. I dont want to become like that so i smoke it infrequently as a sort of release.

For me it was the only thing that touched the pain. I haven`t smoked it for years. I see no peroblem using it occasionally for pain control.

Ive had MS for over 20years…

Ive tried many DMD and my condition deteriorated.

Ive tried excercise and diet and that helps lots but i still looked disabled. But when i was introduced cannabis with the correct CBD/THC i found i could pass as an able bodied person  My head is able to cope with the dibilitating disease and i am completly self supported… without it i am a spasm, cramp crunched up seized limited unable bodied person who requires constant care…

Im not saying its for everyone. Im just saying it right for me.
More than 13yrs i have self medicated myself with cannabis. I would only stop if they locked me in a cell.
I don’t drink Alcohol… I don’t believe anyone can relate any drug to a mental health level and guarantee that Alcohol wasn’t a Big Key element.

Action4ms on facbook is an organisation fighting for cannabis and Multiplesclerosis sufferes. Its our right even if we choose not to take it. I personally wouldn’t take a paracetamol or morphine, codeine or any other similar

Im not a drug addict i use a plant given by Nature.

Hello, I am new to this forum and I can see it’s been a long time since anyone has written but I will give a shot anyways. I was just wondering about people’s experiences with Cannabis or LDN? These are the two things I am considering right now. Didn’t know if anyone has any advice or experience to offer?

Hi Tiffany, welcome to the forum.

There have been a few conversations about cannabis on this forum, including about CBD, an element of cannabis that some people use. Some people have commented about street cannabis on these posts.

I’m sure there are others on this forum that will add about LDN.

I have been taking ldn since 2004 and most of the modest (but significant) improvements are still with me, so very pleased with the results. Was there anything in particular you wanted to know?
