I’ve had PPMS for 10 years now and recently was assessed for a helper dog by the charity Canine Partners. I would highly recommend MS suffers consider them. The dog, although requiring looking after and exercising of course, will be a big benefit to me if they let me have one - I passed the first part of the selection process and now await the home visit, after which it can take up to 18 months to get a fully trained dog. It will help with annoying tasks such as collecting the post, picking up dropped items or the telephone when it rings, pulling washing out from the machine or tumble dryer, pulling back the bed clothes to help me get out of bed - the list is just about endless. Well done to Canine Partners and the four dogs I worked with last week; a charity well worth supporting and considering, by any PPMS sufferer.

I’m sure your canine partner will change your life! And apart from helping you with lots of tasks he or she will be a wonderful friend.
