Can a stiff neck and shoulder on one side be a symptom? I had pretty much recovered from my initial symptoms from last September (enough that I managed to pretend to myself a lot of the time that it was just my imagination, that is until my left toes would go numb again and the weird band at the front of my ankle would tighten! This happens a few times a day so I think I’m stuck with this?) But the past few days I’ve been getting odd things again, it started with buzzing in my left hand and foot, and now I have a couple of numb fingers and a really achey and stiff neck on the right side - I know this doesn’t sound much but the last time I had this exact neck pain was when I was given steroids and my body went haywire and the MS nurse said the steroids can exacerbate symptoms. I am currently undiagnosed and it was put down to CIS with a clear MRI (my neurologist was still convinced of CIS despite clear MRI and said I’ve a 50/50 chance of it developing into MS). I’m really hoping I’m reading too much into a plain old sore neck and random tingles and numbness!
Sorry for the lack of formatting, no matter what I do it always ends up like this. Maybe because I’m on my phone?
hi
either contact your neuro’s secretary or see your GP as it will then get onto your medical records.
every little symptom helps build a picture of what is going on with you.
it may be the little straw that breaks the camel’s back

Thanks Carole, I’m back at the neurologist next month so I’ll add it to the list of things to talk about! I can’t bring myself to go to my GP, I’m sure she us sick of the sight of me by now. Up until a few months ago I was only ever in with my kids but now I’m on a first name basis with the receptionists.
I really need to keep a better track on my calendar - I got my period this morning and it’s been the same thing for the past 3 months, I get some of my symptoms back a few days before each time. You’d think at 36 I’d remember that my period is a monthly thing but apparently not!
That’s a pretty common thing, it tended to come as a surprise to me too, until I started keeping a track in my diary!! Now I’ve stopped so it’s not a relevant issue (hooray).
By all means, keep notes of what happens to you and when, including where you are in your monthly cycle, and bring it up with the neurologist.
I know it’s not a pleasant thought, but perhaps more testing might help. Even if it’s simply to put your mind at rest. I’m thinking af a second MRI, maybe of the spine as well as brain, and perhaps with contrast dye. And/or a lumbar puncture.
Sue
I’m hoping he will suggest more testing next month, he seems very thorough so fingers crossed. I had a lumbar puncture when I was 2 (i had encephalitis) and I supposedly sailed through it without a whimper. I don’t think older me will be quite so impressive though!
i bought a wheat pack for neck pain.
it goes in the microwave for 3 minutes and then goes on my neck.
bliss!
to relieve the neck pain, I first use a neck pillow, but later I was diagnosed MS. so the neck pain and the blurred vision are the things you should pay attention to. Best Neck Pillow or Neck support Pillow for Travel and Neck Pain Relief
In the good old days before ms I had bouts of neck pain and eventually got physio which helped a lot. Now I think it was a relapse as I was dx SPMS so get it recorded it all goes towards the jigsaw puzzle.

Maybe you had that problem because of steroids, I had that same situation, one day when I get up in the morning my neck is much pain, when I visit my doctor he’s suggested that I change my mattress, because I faced that pain almost 2 months, so I changed my mattress through 30% Off Brooklyn Bedding Coupons Nov 2022 - 25% Off Code, neck pain is really big thing, i realize that.
