Can anyone recommend a wireless F.E.S. Device to buy?

Greetings Friends

I have SPMS and as a result have foot drop. I am currently using an FES device that has wires, pads, a footswitch and battery control pack.

This is very beneficial but a but messy to put on and take off.

Can anyone recommend the best Wireless Functional Electronic Stimulus FES Device? This would be great ly appreciated.

Thank you

Mark

Sorry, not me but it will be interesting to see what others suggest

You can get a FES without the footswitch and wire, if that helps.

The Bioness and Walkaid are American versions, but no idea if they are any good.

Do you know if the wireless FES are any good? the Odstock/ODFE

Hi Whammel

Cheers for getting back to me with this. It is interesting and very similar to my Oddstock wired version.

This certainly looks less messy in terms of lack of wires and a more user friendly foot switch, it does say that it comes with a 1 meter wire? So in guessing it’s not completely wireless?

Definitely something to consider

Thank you

Os if any of you use one of these, please get back to me with a short review

Perhaps you could wear it with a leg cuff and that would make it simpler to use. I can’t speak from experience, but they have been available for a few years now and sure the people at Odstock would be happy to explain how they work.

This is a really great thread and I am sorry I am so late to it but I would like to add a little. I’ve been searching the same subject and am planning to go see the Dorset Orthotics people who sell and the Bioness units mentioned above. I can not get the hang of the wires (as Mark7). I am also looking to see how the wireless version gets its signal (no foot pad) and also to see if the quad/ thigh stimulator works. I will feed back if anyone still interested.

Hi Mark

I was coming out of the National Hospital after an appointment a few months ago and saw a man with a device strapped to his leg just below the knee, it looked quite compact

I stopped and asked him if it was a wireless FES and he told me it was. He finds it’s to be very good and easy to use. It was very expensive though and they had a whip round for him at work. I think it was either £2000 or £5000! And from America

I think I have the make and model somewhere snd will include here if I find it Mark

Thanks Mark, yes that sounds like the one (Bioness is manufacturer I think). I am planning to discuss with my physio next week to get her thoughts. As you say though, pretty expensive but I think they do a relatively inexpensive trial for a few days.
