Brain Fog

My son and his family are off to WOMAD festival in Malmesbury to-day. They have left their greyhound with me until they get back next monday. WOMAD …World of Music and Dance. They have just come back from ‘Drum Camp’ another festival in Suffolk. They go to many festivals during the year… in a converted mercedes lorry. lt is kitted out like swiss chalet. All lovely carved wood fittings - Belfast sink - wood-burner. My son [master joiner-cabinet maker by trade] demonstrates wood turning and carving etc at these festivals. BoomTown - is another. He has long dreadlocks- beard- and lots of tattoos - a ‘look’ l think AD could master.

Even my daughter is a festival go-er - in her caravan [ she insists on her own loo] Glastonbury - Perranporth Tunes on the Dunes and many more.

We can organise our own once on lOD.

Pith Helmets for all.

Boomtown is absolutely brilliant, bit big for me nowadays. I was a regular at Download for many years aka Monsters of Rock. I love festivals, concerts anything with music involved. The lorry sounds ace, your son sounds like most of my mates, all factors applicable! & yes, I can relate to your daughter completely, no comprimise!! (don’t forget the unbrella, I’ve seen it, it’s lovely) x

I’ve posted some pictures of me and Hubby on my Facebook page. There are pictures of us in our cool weather outfits and our warm weather outfits. One of the pictures of me shows the umbrella open as a parasol. Another has me standing next to a steampunk R2D2! My Facebook page is irene.heath.75

Those pictures make me realise how much weight I need to lose.

I can appreciate the time difficulties. We do a number of steampunk events throughout the year. I’m used to Hubby saying that we’ll have to get up at stupid o’clock in order to be there at a reasonable time. That’s if we’re just going for the day. It’s better if we go for the weekend because then we leave on Friday afternoon and take the motorhome.

Looking back to when I first met Hubby, long before my diagnosis, we’d do hundreds of miles in a day and think nothing of it. Now we’re both eligible for SAGA holidays and neither of us can do the distance, never mind the effect on my MS.

There’s a major steampunk event on at Lincoln over the August Bank Holiday. It’s called Asylum, and from what I’ve heard the whole town goes steampunk. Some things like talks, workshops and tutorials require wristbands for admission, but there’s a steampunk market in the castle grounds. It’s probably worth going just for the atmosphere, like the Whitby Goth Weekends.

Regarding our outfits, very little is exclusively steampunk. The skirts and trousers can be worn on other occasions, as can the blouses and shirts. It’s really only the hats and accessories that were bought especially. So you could probably use things you already have for steampunk or Goth events. Hubby and I have fairly simple outfits, from that point of view. Some people go for elaborate costumes, some of which are bought from specialist sites/shops. The costumes may be more accurate in style and details, but that’s not necessarily what it’s all about.

I think it looks great. And so you you and Mr Dragon. Have a brilliant time.

We appear to be slipping again lovely peeps, page 2?!! Not avin that!

I noticed that we were near the bottom of page 1 but I couldn’t think of anything to post. I blame brain fog.

I was going to write incy whincy spider climbed up the water spout, but I realised it was a tad silly

silly is exactly right for this silly thread.

incy wincey spider went up the hill to fetch a pail of water, jack sat on a wall, jack had a big fall, he broke his crown and jill came tumbling after.

oops that was silly

Incey Wincey spider climbed up the spout.

I washed my hands and flushed the spider out.

Then I found MS was messing with my brain

As Incey Wincey spider climbed the spout again.

How’s that for silly?

Silly is as silly does. Very nice word silly, bit like effervescent, but thats not silly, it’s a lovely word, posh fizzy.

When we get to the 3,000 post mark…Do you not think we should have our own forum?

And for years… l thought that GLAMS was a forum for people in Glamorgan. What has sexual preferences or indeed skin colour - as in the Asian group got to do with MS…We are all in it … to win it!

And l read that AD now has ‘wheels’. Glad he is wearing that helmet thingy. But those flowing curly locks must get messed up when he is whizzing off to the shops for his People’s Friend and chocolate. Hair-net is what he needs.

Just imagining AD on his scooter in a hair net along with gladiator sandals and socks while he collects The People’s Friend. Is that still going? Please tell us Mr Durer!

I’m going on holiday later today, so I’ll miss the 3000 post milestone. You won’t hear from me till 7th August at the earliest. (Just letting you know so nobody frets.)

Have a fantastic time Cheerful hope the weather is kinder than it is here right now! Enjoy your week xxx

Have a fabulous time. Enjoy the Steampunk festival. And the rest of your holiday. I know you’ve been having a rough time just lately. I really hope this holiday is just what you and Mr Dragon need.
