So the latest symptom to bug me? Brain farts, yes brain farts. Struggling to get my words out and forgetting things all of the time!. Frustration setting in all around because I’m forgetting conversations I’ve had with my better half! Anyone got any suggestions on how I can combat this thing?!?!? On the plus side. Next neuro appointment Saturday so hopefully get somewhere this time!!
Hello Mick Not sure I can suggest a solution but I can empathise. I told my Neuro about it,he didn’t suggest a solution either. If your Neuro comes up with anything, do please share I’m trying to do more crosswords…hoping to excercise the old brain cells. Take care Noreen x
Haha, you can be sure if he does I’ll share it (if I remember!!) I’d love to do crosswords but my other symptom is blurry / constant after image in the centre of my vision so I can’t concentrate for long periods :-s
Hey, I don’t have any advice as I suffer the same…but just wanted to…what a fantastic description! Really made me laugh L x
Hey,
I can sympathise too. I volunteer for 2 hrs working in a community advise centre (its a shop that used to be a butchers) at the end of my backstreet. There are two centre’s one called the Annex and the other Mercer House. I was trying to contact the Annex to get times for a new shop that was opening offering free furnture and home goods to family’s in our area. I rang the Annex about 6 time’s and it was engaged, it was so frustrating. What I forgot is I was in the Annex and needed to ring Mercer House, I was busy ringing myself. I did’nt know whether to laugh or cry!!!
Haha, I’m sorry but I couldn’t help but laugh myself there!!. Yes I’ve been like that and feel like a right dope! Am kinda hoping it doesn’t last too long or I won’t be allowed back to work :-s All this sitting around is driving me crazy Mick
I learned that excellent phrase from my Tai Chi teacher I’ve got into some useful habits: keeping important things in the same place, or one of two, e.g.my keys will be on the shelf or in my coat pocket. Letters all go on the end of the kitchen worktop. Training your other half/kids (if applicable) to do the same is the hard part. Cooking - I always write what time to take things out of the oven on a chalk board as soon as I’ve put them in. Use a calendar! I have one that everything gets written on. If out and about, it goes on my phone then handwritten on my trusty calendar (and I’ve one in the office to organise my work, too). Developing habits like this helps a lot. I still make plenty of mistakes, frustrate hubby in conversations and leave laundry in the machine for a day (etc.) but I get by. Laughing.

I struggled to do my role with this issue too, it became very worrying as I was struggling to remember policy ruling etc in order to give advice and meetings where a complete nightmare. Soon it was becomeing obvious with others and it was made very difficult to work in that environment in the end.
There is no way I would function in nursing now. My memory and word finding is atrocious. I can be having a conversation and completely forget what I want to say next. You can laugh these things off with family, gets a bit embarrassing when your out and about. I was posting a couple of parcels at my local post office yesterday. She asked me the value and what was inside? For the life of me, I could not remember what was in the parcel…I just said clothing. Hey ho
See my recent new post. Not ms according to neuro Doesn’t know what it is and no diagnosis to be given Said might get better but might not :-s. Gave me real confidence boost when I asked about work. ‘Well if you can’t do the job you signed up to do they will get rid of you’ Awesome. Best job in the world and he’s so blasé about me getting pensioned off!! Not in a good place so brain fart heaven today Mick
