Botox injections

Hi,

I was diagnosed with PPMS in 2006. My main problem is that i have severe spasticity on my lower limbs and i saw a specialist in spasticity and she surgested Botox injections. As anybody with PPMS tried Botox injections ?

Kev

Hi kev, yes I did. Had 8 injections in each leg for painful feet…they said they dont inject feet…

sorry to say it was hellishly painful…and didnt do any good.

But I have a pal who has botox every 3 months for stiff, painful legs and it helps her no end.

Worth a try, eh?

Hi, yes I have botox injections in my right leg, which is the one with really bad spasticity problems. The injections do help, and they don’t hurt hugely - just a pinprick really - they loosen up the muscles for a few months at a time, and make my walking a bit more fluid, and a bit less tiring. Well worth trying.

Hi Chris

Please could you tell me which muscle groups you have them in. I think in my right leg I have stiffness in calf, quads and hamstrings.

Thanks

Moyna x

Hi Moyna, I don’t know the names of the muscles, but I have two injections in the thigh muscle at the front, and two in my lower calf. One of the muscles has a name something like ‘gastro-enteritis’. But everyone is different, and you would be assessed by rehabilitation specialists, who would then choose the exact muscles to inject and the appropriate dosages. So the fact that I can’t tell you the names of the muscles kind of doesn’t matter.
