boiling water?

hiya

i have a kettle tippper provided by my ot. its a white plastic thing that my kettle sits on so i dont need to lift the kettle. however even that is becoming unsafe for me. i understand u can get one-cup hot water dispensers. r they hot enough for tea? i have a coffee machine that dispenses hot water but its not boiling. maybe i should only invite coffee drinkers to visit me?!

thanks for any suggestions/tips/help in advance.

no useful tips but heres a BUMP!!

Hi Ellie, My dad has a Morphy Richards meno one-cup water dispenser. It’s really good and hot enough for tea and coffee, think it was about 60 pounds or so from Argos. I’m sure there are lots of others available too! Helps him lots as he has a bad tremor, making ketes unsafe. Tempted to get one myself, I’m always missing the blooming cups  Hope that helps Lx

I’ve got a Teefal One Cup and although the water isn’t at boiling point it makes OK tea.

If I need the water for instant custard or gravy I have to add a bit of extra heat in a pan or they don’t thicken but it makes perfectly good drinks and its much better than a kettle tipper.

I recently bought a ‘Breville Hot Cup’ for tea & coffee, one mug at a time (…instead of boiling too much water in a normal kettle), which automatically dispenses hot (…not boiling) water rather than tipping up a potentially over-full and heavy kettle.

Fabulous idea - wish I’d got one sooner !! (…seen pictures of those ‘kettle tippers’ and they always looked potentially dangerous to me. I guess it comes down to what you can and can’t do ?!!).

We have tap by our sink that dispenses boiling hot water (literally boiling). It makes perfect cups of tea. We had our kichen completly redesigned and refitted last year and it was fitted as part of that, but they can be retro-fitted into an existing kitchen.

We had the safety catch removed from the tap when it was installed so I only have to turn the tap, not push and turn, but we have no children or elderly relatives who might be at risk of scalding.

It was more expensive than a hot water dispenser but running costs are low. I drink more tea than I used to as it’s quicker than boiling a kettle.

thanks to all for replies-i have some searching/homework to do so these replies will be very helpful.

yours as aye, ellie

we had a breville one a few years ago, it was ok. We couldn’t vary the amount of water it dispensed and when it broke we just got a normal kettle. I also have a tassimo machine, makes great coffee but I’ve not tried making tea with it yet.

We are on our 2nd Breville, however I really want a boiling water tap, which we’ll be having soon, glad to hear running costs are low Mitzi

My dad has a boiling water dispenser. I can’t remember the brand of his but it is very similar to the Breville. He has severe arthritis and cannot lift a kettle. He fills it up using a small jug and it holds enough to make plenty of hot drinks all day. The quantity dispensed can be adjusted depending on the size of mugs/cups used and it can be stopped midway if you are using a smaller than usual cup. He previously had a kettle tipper which he found too awkward and a little dangerous.

I have a Morphy Richards One Cup hot water dispenser in my office at work. It’s a little red, curvy machine that only boils one cup at a time. I pour a mug of cold water in the back, press the button on the top and it boils the water in seconds and dispenses it straight into the waiting mug. It’s ideal for one person in an office but wouldn’t be suitable for making gravy etc or drinks for a family.
