Hi all well the blue tits did not like the bird box or they are still looking l did hang some nuts and fat balls near it maybe they will come have a 2nd look. Had to put heating on today weather cooling down. Hands feeling it very cold. Think l will get soup maker out leak and potato maybe, its raining heavy and the patio has standing water on it but its not snow,
Maybe they’ll come back in spring. We have a bird box that I thought they were going to use this year but then they changed their minds. I’ve just used the last of my mealworm suet pellets, I had loads and a pesky badger has eaten most it. A few weeks ago we heard loads of noise in the night and when Lee turn the security light on he saw a badger coming out of the green house through a missing panel. Now we’ve discovered that the badger was having a great time eating the birds food which we stored in there. Michelle x
My hubby put a bird box out the back garden early in the year, and whilst twice we had a little bird checking it out, unfortunately, nothing came of it, but we are leaving it there, and hopefully next Spring we shall see someone move in.
When I am up in the night, I normally see Mr Fox doing his rounds, and occasionally a badger.
Hi all birds have been back in garden not seen them in box again, the nut and food are still hanging near so hopefully.
Just had hubby sweep the drive and bleach it very green l have slipped on it may need doing a few times drainage not to good there so water just sits there.
Weather very nice here humberside but black cloud coming this way.
I’ve not seen anything happening with our birdbox in ages but still chuckle watching the birdbath. We get pigeons, not town ones but huge woodpigeons and just one will fill the bath, especially when they puff up their feathers. However, the magpies are even funnier as they’ll divebomb each other to get some bath-time! The blackbirds are prettier to watch tho, the magpies send the water flying everywhere
My fave time is when Cyril (the squirrel, predictable I know!) goes for a little drink on the side of the birdbath, usully after he’s been fed. There’s still numerous squirrels that pass thru the garden but my husband watches me feed him and laughs. He’ll call out to me that Cyril’s on the fence, I open the window and call him (my call is to kind of kiss-kiss in the air) and he’ll rush over pronto. When I’ve sat down he’ll click his claws on the glass door to ask for more. Rob understands if it’s not Cyril then it’ll scarper when it hears the window open.
Cyril also amuses us both by hanging upside down to try to attack the fat ball in the bird-feeder. He’s a proper little gymnast/piglet
