i’ve just received a letter from the DLA benefit people saying the decision was not in my favour!
my ms nurse told me to expect it but it’s knocked me back a bit. she is sending a letter to them now!
we have been waing for a decision since nov 2012 and now i’ve had to appeal it, it apparently takes another 8 weeks!!!
i have been needing a motability scooter for a while now so am dependant on getting DLA, i’m trapped in my house at the mo and i thought we were nearly there, just so disappointed!! the scooter is so i can get to & from the hospital, go shopping or even down the pub, all things i cannot do at the mo!!
just wondered if there is any grant or bridging loan i can apply for? i’ve had 3 crisis loans since last april so can’t have anymore of those
Sorry to hear that you have even turned down, was this your first attempt as alotof, people, are turned down initially but are then given an award on appeal. I know it’s not much help but appeal, but make sure you get help filling in the forms. Good luck Ben x
It’s so disappointing to be knocked back for DLA. My first application was turned down and even though like you, I had been warned to expect it, I still felt let down and as though I really wasn’t worthy.
Why not apply to the MS Society for a grant for your scooter. It’s just the sort of thing that they help with. There may be other places (perhaps connected with a past employment) a good place to find out about grants is www.turn2us.org.uk
