I noticed the other day that there’s a ‘Barbie in a wheelchair’, that’s good inclusive I thought then wondered how she has kept her figure, as I’m finding hard enough with just not moving around as I used to!
That is the beauty.of.kids imagination, you see, I would.never.have wanted my Tressy in a wheelchair or a wedding dress! Which my mother bought, I did like the water skiis though! I spent hours with my friends daughter and her Barbies, don’t understand the need for more than one! When you can buy the.clothes! I thought Tressy would feel betrayed!!
Given that Barbie’s figure is technically incompatible with human form anyway, I don’t think she needs to worry about the effects upon it of living in a chair.
I have to admit to.still having Tressy! First thing I look for when we move, never mind the kettle! Hubby did suggest doll hospital to get her loose leg fixed and her growing hair put back, I do still.have it! But they are memories to me, she looks her age! and more lol
I did know this, I jest, on the other hand it gives little girls the idea that they have to conform to a shape. I didn’t want to buy one for my daughter but she was given 2, one being an American Barbie I think it was LA. The other from an old fashioned relative! We preferred Sindy
I think a lot of us, me included, were given a Sindy because at least she wasn’t a Barbie!
Did anyone else have a ‘Tiny Tears’? My parents didn’t like her either, but my persistence won the day in the end.
lol. My mother wouldn’t let me have a Barbie, but she got me a Dawn doll instead. (Did you have them over there? They were basically mini versions of Barbie.)
Hi, I had a tiny tears, loved that doll, LOL, I also had an avengers doll, anyone remember those, didn’t have a barbie.
Jean
Not Tiny Tears but remember being horrified by a stiff baby doll and pushchair! I did get what I wanted a Tressy set, a business outfit and for some reason a dalmation, maybe the year of 101 dalmations!my mother has said she couldn’t just get me a dolls dess…I said you could have, I was terrified by that baby doll!
I had a Belinda doll, she had beautiful grey/pink hair that you could style, I used to spend hours styling it. I gave it to my daughter when she was 3, big mistake, she bit one of the feet, leaving a big hole, so she went the way of the ‘dolly on the dustcart’. (Pam Ayres poem).
Not my daughter lol, she is 40 this year and only buys non plastic toys for her daughter, or second hand, as she’s a serious ecologist.
