Hey to everyone, I hope that everyone is doing ok? As my Topic states I am currently awaiting diagnosis for my symptoms. I have been referred to Neurology and an Mri scan I had in December shows appearances inkeeping with demylination with mild intracranial involvement but more marked spinal involvement. On my consultation with the neurologist a history of my symptoms were taken and a brief neuro exam etc. When we were finished she began to talk about the two types of MS. No other conditions or possibilities were discussed. I have had bloods taken- nothing abnormal so I believe. I am due my next MRI scan on Tuesday coming. Is it strange I hope it shows new lesions as just want to know whats going on. I did not have some of the symptoms I have now. Just want to know if this has happened to anyone else? I am a nurse and currently off work with my symptoms, stress and depression.
Hello Alibear welcome to the site. I’m so sorry to hear you are in this position. It’s always a difficult time when waiting for results, but a least you will know one way or the other. I’ve lived with MS ever since childhood and have had a really good life, so know it’s not all bad just something you might have to live with. I have never been on DMDs (Disease Modifying Drugs) in fact never been offered them, but they are more readily available to younger generations and help slow down the progression. I hope you get an answer on Tuesday as being left in Limboland is a stressful place to be. Be brave and know we are all here to help you through this and give you our knowledge and support. Maz
Thank you soo much for your kind reply. Its such a roller coaster of emotions. I am quite a positive person on most things so hoping that will help me in the future. I just want to get things going. I kniw im luckier than some as it hasn’t been to long for scans and appointments. I will keep you updated on how things go. This website is fab and will be a support for me no doubt x
Hi i understand your scared. It took 16 years for my diagnsosis. If you can work, work whilst you wait. spinal involvment could be PPMS which is rare and takes long to be diagnosed with I believe.
see what the new MRI comes up with. Try to stay calm, i have been with this thing since before 2000. I am 70 in a few months. I wish i had stayed calm when i left my job ill, knowing what I know now i would have stayed at work and reduced my hours and stress.
In MS the symptoms can wax and wane, its like living on a rollercoaster. everyones MS is different too. you can have a ton of lesions with little symtpom, 1 lesion with a ton of symptoms. go figure.
good luck
