Are you disabled when you dream?

last night I had a dream where I was playing a football match in the same team as my boys. I’m 52. My boys are 21 and 18. Even more ridiculous is I haven’t been able to run for 13 years and I now use either a wheelchair or crutches to get around.

I can’t recall having a dream recently where I wasn’t disabled.

What is other people’s experience of this?

Lucky you, having nice dreams. In mine, MS is usually the least of my worries!

I have all sorts of dreams. Generally I can walk, run, do loads of things I can’t actually do anymore. Sometimes I have to walk for miles in my dreams. Fully able bodied. In fact I can do things I couldn’t do when I was able bodied!

There is the odd nasty one, but in general I absolutely love dreaming.

I quite often dream I’m not disabled, but quite often, even in the dream, I’m aware that it’s not right (I can’t walk without at least a stick any more either)

Hi, no, I never disabled in my dreams, plus I am always slim…the weight I would love to be again.

But very often, those dreams are about the place I used to work, when I was in charge.

And none of the staff will speak or take any notice of me.

These dreams are a cruel reminder of how I am no longer capable of being what I what I once was. Sad!

Rarely dream, but when l do l can always FLY! - Yep, just take off - lf only l could.

l was at party - last Saturday - and someone asked me - ‘which is your husband’? ----- And l straightaway said ’ oh the tall dark handsome one’. She looked puzzled - and when l looked around the garden l could not see one tall dark handsome man!! We all laughed - and l said it helps to dream.

Oh I’d love to fly, even in my dreams. Amazing.

Dreams can be brilliant, usually I am fit and healthy with sporting skills barely imaginable when I was healthy. Occasionally I have the odd dream which includes my Tramper or rollator. It has been known that sometimes I can fly like a seagull (but this usually happens after a good combination of cheeses)

In my head there are no limitations.

have fun and smile because dreams cost nothing and don’t require mains power or batteries. I wonder where my head will take me next?

all the best mick

LOL, reminds me of a dream i had where i was walking miles on a beach, and really having a wonderful time, and swimming just well it was fab one of those dreams even down to a nice fella he he, when i woke up jeez my legs were in spasms, stiff, achey and crampy I could barely get out of bed it was quite bizarre… i think if i had found a wet puddle on the floor from coming out of the sea in my white sexy bikini lol, I would have had a fit lol… yes i love dreaming too, a lot of mine have been good, and errrrrr hum since i was sick or just older some are a bit racy too lol. Thankfully, l do not fly like a seagull - not with my lack of bowel control Mick. But l could fly down and pinch someone’s pasty - and chips - maybe a 99!

Hello, I very rarely dream about being disabled but I do have dreams in which I am looking for a loo and can never find a clean and private one … so perhaps something is at the back of my mind!

I am not disabled when I dream

Last night I had another dream where I was playing football again, this time with some of the team mates I played with years and years ago,

great dream - I was running; I scored; we won the cup. Happy days.

No - never disabled in my dreams, although I have to say my dreams would probably give Freud a complex; from playing Backgammon at a French bistro/cafe with a 6ft tall spider (?) to being a Roman Soldier (been having that one on and off since I was 5 years old) and even weirder, yes I have even weirder dreams than playing board games with spiders.

I agree - thank goodness for dreams that let our imaginations loose.
