Anyone?

I am currently being tested for ms after being ill for 13yrs. I have lesions on my brain mri, negative lumbar puncture and awaiting results of an evoke potential test. My left eye keeps feeling odd, watery, pains behind it, headaches, off balance and i am not sure if this is optic neuritis. My question is when my eye feels like this i am more fatigued and my right arm and leg feel different too. Is this common with ON or not?

Hi zipster,

This is just a possibility; can cause lesions but neg LP also bad headaches; http://www.hughes-syndrome.org/ get it checked.

The good thing is it can be controlled.

I’m sure i have had my blood clotting checked so it can’t be that.

Hi Zipster,

its an antigen they check I think on this. Both my mum and sister have been diagnosed for this. I already take Warfarin(blood thinner) and they are double checking its not Hugh’s with a blood test. Which I thought was impossible once on blood thinners but its not so it could be worth checking if you have had the test already, I beleive its inexpensive to do. good luck xx

It could be ON, but that doesn’t mean the other symptoms are also ON. MS relapses or flare-ups tend to consist of clusters of symptoms, rather than just one. So if you get a flare-up of ON, you may find other stuff happens along with it. Also it may not be a genuine relapse. You may find that when you get a bit stressed or run-down (e.g. with a cold), old symptoms that haven’t been a problem for a while suddenly resurface. So if you have a history of problems with e.g. an eye, an arm, and a leg, you may find all of them pop up from time to time, if you’re a bit under the weather with something. It doesn’t mean the eye problem is causing the arm problem, or vice versa. It just means something has reactivated both. Repairs tend to be less than 100% perfect, so at times of stress and strain (physical or emotional) the makeshift repairs tend to show.
