Hi Everyone,
My other half and I are contemplating moving to Norfolk and was wondering what the Neuro’s are like and social support, is it good, bad or indifferent? Would be grateful for any replies.
Many thanks

Hi Janet, well I now live on the borders of Cambs, Lincs , and Norfolk , I go to a hospital in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, I suppose to be truthful I’ve encountered all of the above at one stage or another , but I’m guessing that might be a national thing ,
John,
p.s. I think Norfolk is a great County
Thanks for your reply John much appreciated. We want the quiet life in our retirement.

well it’s defineately quiet here , in fact it takes a little getting used to :0), though I suppose that depends on where you move from ,
John
Hi John,
That’s exactly what we want as we’re coming from Maidstone in Kent and it’s manic here, rush, rush all the time.

Hi Janet,
I was born in Norfolk and it is a beautiful county. I have a fabulous Neuro called Dr Lee at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital…he did trials with Finglimod and he also has a PHD in Multiple Sclerosis. I have never had any probs getting treatment (touch wood) been on Rebif, Copaxone, Avonex and I have now been on Tysabri for 15months. My ms nurse isn’t that great but there are 3 others which are lovely. Whenever I have needed to be referred for anything I have rarely encountered problems. The Neurological Physio I saw is lovely and very understanding too.
I have had very little contact with social services although we have just had a concrete ramp built on a bungalow in conjunction with our housing association. One thing I do know is that wheelchair service is hopeless and not even worth bothering with!
Us Norfolk folk can be perceived to be a little reserved but we are a very friendly and loyal bunch! I should imagine life is quiet compared to down south!
If you have any questions please pm me.
Andrea
Hello Andrea,
Thanks so much for your reply, we have been coming to Norfolk for our holidays for years now and love it very much. We also have friends there and we are considering Lowestoft, Gt. Yarmouth, Belton, Bradwell areas. Do you know any of them? Quiet is exactly what we are after, at present we live in a house but would dearly love a bungalow.

Hi, I live in Norwich and agree with Andrea - the N&N hospital and staff are great and I am due to be seen by the Pain Clinic at the James Paget hospital in Gorleston, Gt Yarmounth next month. Tracy
the neurologists are all nice at the n&n but difficult to get hold of! ive not experienced any of them at the paget which would be your hospital for those areas you said about. good luck with a move and house hunting. for a slower pace of life and a not so relyant on tourism ecconomy maybe look in land towards more central and north/east norfolk?

Janet,
I used to live in Bradwell about 20 years ago and I really liked it. I have family live in Belton and Bradwell and they have lived there happily for many years now. I don’t think i would actually like to live in Great Yarmouth itself but then that’s just me. If you moved to one of those areas then you would probably go to the James Paget Hospital but the consultants from the Norfolk &Norwich Hospital hold clinics there anyway.
Many people seem to like Norfolk - I certainly do!
Andrea
