Evening all
I’ve just had my second day of a three day course of IV steroids, and think there’s a possibility I may have come down with a urine infection. Obviously they normally won’t start a course of steroids if you’ve got an infection, so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what happened.
I’ll take a urine sample into hospital in the morning for them to do a dip test to try & get more of a confirmation. But I’ve got some ciprofloxacin though so I’m wondering about taking one now just as a precaution before speaking to the nurse tomorrow.
Any replies welcome.
Dan
I decided not to take any ciprofloxacin without speaking to the nurses/doctor first. That might end of causing any bugs to become resistant if they’re not the right ones so it’s probably best to play it safe and wait till the morning. I’ll just make do with some cranberry in the meantime…
Interesting.
I have had a 3-day and a 5-day course of IV steroids - and the hospital I attend required a urine sample every morning before they would start the drip going.
Then it was a 5-day course of oral steroids (Yuck, double yuck, yuck again - where did I put the peppermints?) and it was only one sample before I started the course.
Standard advice for avoiding UTIs is to drink plenty of water. Of course, what goes in must come out, so you soon learn to plan every journey around the availability of rest-rooms.
