Anxiously awaiting MRI results

Had scan three weeks ago on brain. GP said to contact her if she hadn’t called me 1-2 weeks after it.

Last week was 2 weeks so contacted her and she’s not had any results. She said that’s very unusual as they are always back within two weeks

She’s put me on her list to keep an eye out for them and will ring me when they do.

I’m thinking they are either just running behind. Or that they’ve had to be sent elsewhere to be looked at???

Just feeling anxious I guess. But my question is if the Radiologist spotted something would the report just be sent to GP or would a specialist apart from Radiologist look at the scan first??

Many Thanks

Typically the radiologist’s report goes to the clinician who ordered the scan. Don’t try to see around corners if you can help it. Maybe someone wants to consult a colleague on the scan, but maybe the radiologist’s secretary’s gerbil has the measles and he’s off with stress and behind with the paperwork. You just don’t know, so no use guessing. It’s good that your GP is on the case.

Hi Joker. I agree with Alison’s well put and also humorous reply . Don’t try and guess ( as Alison says it could be a case of measles and stress). I think in general everything in the NHS these days is a bit slower and takes longer

Really, they always say 2-3 weeks but in truth it takes them 5-6 weeks. Talking from personal experience. I always end up chasing them with phonecalls.
