Another rotten cold - more time off work :(

I can’t remember when I was last awake this early! I spent most of yesterday in bed with a rotten head cold which, in turn, brought on a migraine. One on its own is enough to floor me but both together … To cap it all I started my period yesterday evening and that always turns my legs to jelly as well. Oh joy, triple joy!! Feeling very sorry for myself :frowning: I somehow managed a full day at work on Tuesday despite feeling rubbish because I was worrying that it would look bad if I went home early as I’ve had so much time off this academic year. When I arrived home there was a letter from hospital telling me my latest blood test showed that my lymphocytes are very low. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell that help the body to fight off infection. They dont want to take me off Gilenya while I’m well because there’s the risk that my MS will get worse. Ah, I thought, I’m not just being a wimp then! I barely slept Tuesday night because I’m so bunged up and I can’t take decongestants. The bedroom reeks of Vicks and Olbas oil (which doesn’t seem to be playing my asthma up this time but has occasionally in the past). I phoned in sick yesterday. I’m wide awake this morning and was considering showering and getting dressed to see how I feel when I’ve done all that but I’ve just had an almighty coughing fit and had to take my blue inhaler. I’m exhausted already just from going/wobbling to the toilet so I guess it’s another duvet day. All sympathy gratefully accepted  Tracey xx

Awe hope you feel better soon Tracey. I’ve a horrendous sore throat when I swallow thinking about going to docs. But being clever I got my doc appointment wrong yesterday. Which would have covered it. You have sympathy with periods mine is a nightmare I always feel worse on it. Just started taking the pill and got stuff which lighten it have to take the pill first 4 day of my period to make it lighter and I’ve been out for a pelvic scan today the joys. Really hope you feel better soonx

Thanks, Em My periods are lighter than they used to be as I’m almost 49 now. I was on Norethistorone for the past 7 years for the last 2 weeks of my cycle but found I can now manage without it. They made my periods lighter and shorter and helped ease PMT too such as bloating and breast tenderness. Also reduced severity of migraines which are hormone related. I still find my legs suffer for a few days though. I will be grateful when the menopause hits!! I’m trying to sleep but it’s too brought and I can’t find my eye mask. The pain in my head and the cough aren’t helping either. I swear by Jakeman’s throat and chest sweets for coughs and colds. They’re the only ones that get to that tickle that drinks can’t reach. Have you tried them? I know what you mean about getting in a muddle, I missed my B12injection last month because I was so tired I slept through it and had to apologise. The receptionist was really nice about it and squeezed me in for it 2 days later when there’s usually no app’ts for 2weeks! I nearly fell over in shock  Tracey x

  • too bright

My surgery can be a nightmare. But I actually managed to get a doctors appointment this afternoon (not my doctor) but it’s an appointments though I did refuse the one with the doctor who kept saying it’s not ms it’s stress. You’ll laugh in 6 months well I don’t see anyone laughing. Don’t think I’d be responsible for my actions ( though I’m really easy going and wouldn’t see boo lol) Hopefully you will start to feel better soon. I’m sick of feeling crap. I’m only 31 never really get out the house unless it’s to docs. Though next weekend I’ve a 30th and the following. Weekend I have a wedding dance but it’s the day of my sons birthday. Hopefully yet more antibiotics will make my head feel better. You just having a duvet day. I’ve just had a roasting bath had about 4 cups of tea. And I’ve decided diet starts today all I’ve eaten is chocolate for to knock that on the head. I weighed less at the end of my pregnancy than the start was the start of ms but with choc I’ve found the weight lol. X

Ha ha, snap with the chocolate! I dont usually put weight on, in face I lose it when I’m having a relapse. Since Christmas though I have been eating up all the leftover chocolates and have gained a few pounds. I had to go into my bigger work trousers lol. That’s the one good thing about feeling so rough - I haven’t fancied chocolate at all this week. Tracey x

Btw I slept from 9.30 until 12.00 so I guess I need lots of rest

I feel for you elmo and understand the reasons for not wanting to go home sick. I had same last week went into office last tues only go once a fortnight now anyway. Had a sore toe in the morning I was determined I wouldn’t leave early, I think I should have as by the time I got to walk in drs I couldn’t walk and was prescribed strong antibiotics. I can’t go to the office for the next 2 weeks because of appointments. Due back on 1st April, not sure that’s the best day to be going. My work are so supportive and fortunately in IT roles I have the option to be able to do all my work from home. Have uti this week so more antibiotics

I sent you hugs without the germs - silly site loosing our much deserved hugs Hope you are feeling better after your sleep Barney

Oh Tracey

Another regular feeling low and hit with a nasty infection.

Sending you big ((((hugs)))) and I hope you feel better soon sweets.

Shazzie xx

Thanks Barney I didn’t realise you’d got a UTI straight after the skin infection, that’s rotten luck. Thanks for the hug and here’s one back as youre having a rough time too. I’ve managed a shower this afternoon and a light tea but my head’s banging again so I think it’ll be another early night. I could win awards for my sleeping skills! Tracey x
