Alternative way to spend Saturday night

In my teens I hadn’t had a good time unless I was drunk and falling over the cracks in the pavement as I made my way home from the pub. Last Saturday reminded me of my youth but with out the hangover Sunday morning!

Had a great day here in Margate my brother and his wife visited and we put the world to right’s over coffee and cake!

Oh Don, I am so sorry to hear of your latest event of checking the floor out, no seriously it is a complete nightmare sometimes, we all seem to appear heavier when someone is trying their best to help, nothing is easy.

Would one of the pump up cushion things that go under you be of any help I wonder? If you think it might, have a word with your OT to get you one, or perhaps they may have a better suggestion.

Lovely sunny spring day here today, hope Margate is as well, take care.

Pam I have got one but I was in such a position it would have been hard to set it up plus Heather was scared I could fall again hence INTERNATIONAL RESCUE. We have used it in the past but it is a faf to use but very useful. Margate is bathed in beautiful sunshine and I am sitting with the sun pouring in listening to Ed Sheeran

Don , I’ve just read your blog . You have such a good sense of humour despite it all . I suppose it made it easier that it was people you know and love man handling you back into bed. Last week it was a workman helping me …gosh not into bed but back into my wheelchair I should have been grateful,… I was but a bit embarrassed too… Frazer just gave me the look that says it all Michelle and Frazer xx

Don,

doing a “faceplant” sucks and being unable to get up again is miserable. Sorry to hear of your fall but pleased to hear that you have access to strong family. The most recent time I head butted the floor I had to wait until the postman could join forces with my neighbour to get me upright. Very frustrating and quite painful as I tried to drag my carcass around like a slug in various attempts to climb up stuff to get up again. I was concerned that my neighbour might hurt himself trying to heave me up. I am now trying to lose weight so that the next time I take a nosedive I am less likely to damage any rescuers!

Your blog is a good read and I can identify with many of the things you describe.

Hope you keep sunny side up.

Mick
