Allergic reaction to something?

Allergic to something? … Lets deal with the allergies first, this is not your common allergy to pollen or seeds for instance, this is an allergy to something used in the operation theatre when on both occasions I had a Suprapubic Catheter inserted. within three days of the surgery I came out in blisters that subsequently burst on my stomach(sorry if your eating) so I must be allergic to something they used during the time I was in the theatres. The first time was the 19/10/15 read more…

Oh Deborah, you poor thing, you must be sick to the back teeth with this problem, you have my sympathy.

They really need to get to the bottom of the problem before they try again, you have been put through the mill well and truly.

Really hope they find a solution quickly and you feel better, take care

Hi Deborah.

I’ve developed allergies over the last few years whereas I had the constitution of an ox before. After my neck operation I developed an allergy to all types of plaster and my wound opened because of it. I also became allergic to some types of metal and my medical alert disc left nasty welts on my skin wherever it touched, my Neuro thinks it’s nickel.

I don’t know if it is ms related, my Neuro isn’t sure either, but it’s only occurred in the last few years when the illness took my life over. It’s not pleasant though.

Sounds like an allergy to ‘Latex’ - they usually ask you at your pre-op about this. lt also means you cannot use a latex catheter or wear latex gloves.

On the Everyday Living site -someone has posted about Clemastine - or Travegil as it is known as a over the counter medicine. lt is anti-histamine - and research is now on - because it has been found to help us with MS - Progressive and RR. lt is supposed to work as a re-myleination. Be wonderful if it does.

Fingers crossed Frances!

Hello, Deborah.

This must be so frustrating and a million other irritating things. I hope you can get it sorted for the wedding.

Having to rely on that slow moving beast that is our poor underfunded under-staffed NHS, is another thing that can chip away at your stress factor. This is one scenario when the individual outshines the collective force.

Best wishes, Steve x

l have ordered some from an online pharmacy - so its wait and see.

Hi Deborah when I was first catheterised (ureatheral) I was allergic to the catheters changed them to latex or non latex can’t remember and problems solved.
