Hi,
We moved to our house in March 2000 when I was 3 months pregnant with our first child. Not long after I started with vision problems which was put down to pregnancy hormones.
After having my second child in 2003, not only did I start with mobility problems but I’d also get terrible cystitis. I was diagnosed with MS in 2007 and self-diagnosed myself with Interstitial Cystitis (IC) last year. I believe the IC was caused by the catheter used during the caesarean.
Anyway, we live in a very hard water area and I have always wondered if the water in some way contributed towards my problems. I dabbled with bottled water for a while but some brands still caused cystitis. At the start of the year I bought a portable alkaline water filter but only used it once or twice a day. Then I got lazy and had a few days where I didn’t use it and the cystitis came back really bad. As an experiment, I started using it all the time. I only drink cold water as I’ve not been able tolerate much else for quite a while, but as if by magic all my bladder problems went away.
I don’t know if the tap water has been aggrevating or causing my problems, but I’m now really tempted to buy a larger alkaline filter as I want to start using the alkaline water for cooking etc and my portable filter only does 300ml (about a mug) at a time.
Just thought I’d share this incase it might be of help to anyone else.
