Alkaline Water

Hi,

We moved to our house in March 2000 when I was 3 months pregnant with our first child. Not long after I started with vision problems which was put down to pregnancy hormones.

After having my second child in 2003, not only did I start with mobility problems but I’d also get terrible cystitis. I was diagnosed with MS in 2007 and self-diagnosed myself with Interstitial Cystitis (IC) last year. I believe the IC was caused by the catheter used during the caesarean.

Anyway, we live in a very hard water area and I have always wondered if the water in some way contributed towards my problems. I dabbled with bottled water for a while but some brands still caused cystitis. At the start of the year I bought a portable alkaline water filter but only used it once or twice a day. Then I got lazy and had a few days where I didn’t use it and the cystitis came back really bad. As an experiment, I started using it all the time. I only drink cold water as I’ve not been able tolerate much else for quite a while, but as if by magic all my bladder problems went away.

I don’t know if the tap water has been aggrevating or causing my problems, but I’m now really tempted to buy a larger alkaline filter as I want to start using the alkaline water for cooking etc and my portable filter only does 300ml (about a mug) at a time.

Just thought I’d share this incase it might be of help to anyone else.

i have heard a lot about alkaline water being good for all sort of ailments. our bodies are supposed to be alkaline but most of us are too acidic.

i’ll find out how much the alkaline filters cost.

interesting post

I recently read a book called the PH Miracle which claims that all disease is due to eating drinking foods which are too acidic. In a bid to overcome my MS I have bought a water ionizer which makes the water alkaline as well as trying to move towards a plant based diet. Too early to know if it works but can’t do any harm!
