Our friend from the crazy, bizarre, mental thread, Brain Fog hasn’t been seen or heard of since April 4th. It’s great to have anonymity here on the forum, but it’s really bothering me that we have absolutely no way of contacting him, or anyone that knows him. No real name, no residential whereabouts, no contact numbers…
If it was possible, could a search be posted on Facebook, for anyone who might know him, to let someone know he’s okay? He really has just disappeared.
I know his real first name is Anthony because he sent me a birthday message in February. To find him on Facebook, if he has an account, we need a surname. I don’t know if he has any social media presence at all. In fact, I’m stumped as to how we can find out what has happened to him if nobody on here knows him personally.
I’m assuming that someone has tried sending him personal messages. If that hasn’t worked then I have to presume that he’s away from internet access for some reason. Hopefully it’s temporary, even if it’s something serious like being in hospital. I’ll continue to look forward to hearing from him eventually.
I’m worried too. I know that even if the MSS had contact details, they can’t necessarily use them. And what they’ve done is the same as us, i.e. sent him a PM which generates an email. And Don has directly emailed him. There’s not much else that anyone can do.
No Dragon, I wasn’t meaning to find him directly on FB. He obviously isn’t accessing internet as he’s had emails, messages etc. We all know his name is Anthony as he often signed his posts. I was wondering in my wild thoughts, if someone new what area he lives in, to put a random “search” message out on FB, in the hopes that someone who knows someone, might know who is being referred to.
I don’t know, something along the lines of, “Anyone know someone in the area called Anthony? Concerned and seeking information on member of an MS forum community using the name of Albrecht Durer, not heard from him, missing, anyone know someone like this in the area? All concerned”. I know it’s a long shot, and maybe a little crazy, but you never know…
What area is he living? Can we piece together all the info we know about him, his cat’s name, car driven, towns mentioned, pub named? Someone somewhere might put two and two together.
Thats the trouble with forums and blogs if we dont hear from the person we think something bad has happened.dont think theres much anyone can do really though just have to hope hes too busy enjoying life and doesn’t feel the need to come on here.I follow a lady in scotland who had done blogs for years, every month, her last blog in March she was having a lot of problems and i really do think the worst,as shes not done one for April and its so unlike her,so i am upset and just wish i knew she was ok.
I think we have to be careful about privacy. Some people have not disclosed to all people they have MS. I haven’t informed everyone I know I have MS. I see my health status as private.
The stop was just too sudden for me to think it’s just “one of those things”. Yes Lenny, I suppose you’re right about the privacy thing. Never thought people might not know him as Anthony, the guy with ms". Wait and see I guess…
I don’t think the stop was ‘one of those things’ either. I reckon he’d have told someone if he was planning on a hiatus from the forum.
The longer it goes on the more concerned I am. Everyday I look at the forum with a vague thought that maybe AD will be back. And spouting some nonsense about his absence.
I mentioned needing his surname for Facebook because I don’t know of any way to do a broadcast message to all and sundry. As someone said, you can’t just do random posts asking if anybody knows a man called Anthony who has MS, especially as he may not have told everyone who knows him. I know that it’s reckoned that you can make a connection to anybody in just six steps, but you have to know the right people to connect with and you need to know the exact end point.
I understand and accept the need for privacy. It’s just darned inconvenient in situations like this.
Do you mean the Albrecht Durer thread or the Brain Fog thread? I agree that there’s not much more to be said about the search for our beloved leader, but I’m not sure that I’d want to end the Brain Fog thread just yet. Yes, AD started it and contributed a lot to its silliness, but where else can we go to post about the crazy happenings in our lives that are mostly, if not always, caused by this horrendous condition. The invasions were always just a way to give rein to our madness, so that aspect of the thread can be dropped, and we can leave socks out of the conversation. I’d like to continue to post about other aspects of brain fog, though.
Perhaps the Brain Fog thread could continue as a tribute to AD, or we could set a deadline either as a date or number of posts. I’ll be sad to see the thread go if/when we do decide to end it.
