Hi,
I am 55. Following a brain MRI last week for symptoms of a TIA ( blurred vision, nausea, spaced out/off balance feeling and a left numb hand) I have been told I have numerous bright spots on my brain. I suffer migraines and was told some migraine sufferers get them but I have a few more than they would expect for a migraine sufferer. I saw the neurologist yesterday. He talked to me about the possibility of MS but that historical information would be required and I have never had an MRI before so we have no prior data. He also seemed to dismiss any symptoms and constantly talked about potentially doing a lumbar puncture/ repeat MRI but only if I have any symptoms lasting 24 hours. He didn’t really take a very good history and alot of information he could have asked was missed. It all felt a bit dismissive yet he was the one bringing up a potential diagnosis of MS. Obviously this all leaves me in limbo. I am fit and well, walk around 5-7 miles every day with my dogs but have had symptoms over the years that taken alone I would dismiss but maybe when combined might potentially be early signs. Tingling hands, nocturia, joint pains, cough/aspirating. I have recently been very tired and have had very poor sleep for a long time. Ive had alot of inflammation type issues plantar fascitis, hip bursas, shoulder bursas, trigger fingers, tennis elbow etc etc. I have noticed recently I’m always dropping my keys.
I don’t really know what to think. I am being reviewed in 5-6 months time unless I develop and long lasting symptoms.
welcome to my world. it took from 2000 to 2016 to be told i had progressive MS one of the harder to diagnose.
As you have just started on your path i can see what the neurologist is saying. they have obviously not counted stroke which is good.
Because your symptoms are not running like RRMS ITS all down to wait and see. Oh i even had the dropping keys it drove me mad. Not saying you have MS but yes i have been there, but not had any inflammatory issues like PF hip trigger fingers etc, mine was mainly left side numb and bladder issues and optical neuritis, and slow onset mobility issues. from the get go.
