If you currently are awarded PIP you’ll already be aware that you need to score a minimum of 8 points in Daily Living to get awarded the Daily Living part of PIP.
At the moment, those 8 points (or more) can consist of various combinations to make up the 8 or more - but this Government’s intention under the Green Paper being proposed is to make claimants still get the minimum of 8 points - but in that 8 points (or more) must be a single score of a 4 - so 4,2,2, or 4,4 etc…
We all know how hard it is get a PIP award so having to score a 4 in any of the taskings in Daily Living is pushing the goalposts further apart thus making it impossible for many.
Many claimants who currently don’t score a 4 will lose their Daily Living part of PIP if this is instigated. (
These changes only affect Daily Living part of PIP not the Mobility part.
A petition to stop the 4 Point Rule exists at
It is not my petition. I have signed and am sharing it here.
Ive already signed this petition and today I emailed my MP. I also told him I will never vote Labour again if they go ahead with these changes to disability benefits.
I won’t be signing it. In fact, I support the Green Paper. There are too many people “gaming the system” which is precisely what this legislation is intended to curtail. Not referring to MS but for some of the more tenuous claims that got through during / after covid when the face-to-face assessments were waived.
Anyone with a legitimate MS diagnosis will have their claim supported (or not…) by a report from a MS professional and an audit trail of correspondence.
I’ve signed it, this is just the beginning they will keep cutting and cutting and cutting from the most vulnerable in society. Those few that commit fraud will always find a way to do it. Ultimately they are not doing it to help us it’s a gimmick that isn’t really going to save money in the long term or make a dent in their budgets big enough to notice.
I dont agree 2% fraudulent claims is unfair on those of us who are at risk of losing out due to the new point rules. Shame on labour, it is long overdue that those who earn so much they can legally avoid tax should pay their dues, companies and billionaires
