World book day...what are you reading?

Looking forward to starting The mirror and the light (think that’s right, so long since I pre ordered, I can’t remember!) just have to finish what I’m reading now, and timing, thought I would have by now!

I can’t remember. It’s that memorable. Or my brain is that fogged. Probably both!!

It’ll be OK when I pick it up, rewind a couple of chapters, live with forever forgetting certain details about the book (Eg characters motivations/relationships/actions from earlier in the book).

But I’m still reading, and always will.

One I have read before, one of the best. “The great Gatsby” If you haven’t read it, definitely recommended.

I’m in a book group.

We’re reading ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ by Delia Owens. Really enjoying it.

Since the dexterity in my hands has got worse, especially my left hand I started to use a kindle.

Really love it, light, easy to read, change back light, built in dictionary, different font sizes and styles. Bought a cover with a hand strap at the back so I can hold it easily. Best thing I’ve bought in a long time.

Happy reading.

I am going to try and read my new requistion SHIRLEY VALENTINE, i just loved the film so i thought for once to get away from internet and all the doom and gloom i would try and read the book. x

I’m reading finding Henry Appleby, just a nice gentle read about an old guy looking for his 1st love from the 2nd world war.

Our Book Club had Crawdads. Very good

I am just starting The Ribbons Are for Fearlessness. Suggested by my book group.

I love my kindle, still using my original one with no backlight light on the cover though. I have one of those pilow pads(as seen on TV…as they say!) It is the best thing I have been given in a long time! No hands needed at all, stops your neck aching too.

At the moment I take Val Mcdermid or Anne Cleves or Lee Child to bed every night -

The two authors I CAN’T read are Hilary Mantel (so well researched her books are just too academic for me.) Also J K Rowling - just can’t make any sense of the Harry Potter books.

and dislike kindle.

You might like, The likely resolutions of Oliver Clock, another gentle read, about an undertaker!

Agree re. Harry Potter, but love my kindle, prefer books but can no longer hold them, although I still buy all Margret Atwoods for my collection…got to have something in the book cases that I insisted on having!

I have just finished The man who didn’t call by Rosie Walsh, really enjoyed it.

This Changes Everything by Naomi Klein. A hard read, and you can only take it in small bites, but a message for out time. I don’t often buy ACTUAL books, can’t hold them but another (smaller) one - No one is too small to make a difference - Greta Thunberg

I’m reading Riding the Waves my story by Jane McDonald!

I went to Thornes House School in Wakefield with her! Jane was a lovely lass then and she still is now! Crikey that was back in 1976!!

Just started reading Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver, good so far. I read a couple of hers ages ago, I like the way she writes.

Just finished Debbie Harry’s autobiography

someone mentioned lee child, which are great. Recently found an older one we hadn’t read so something to look forward to

enjoy your books people

Just finished reading the 3rd in the Dune saga (Children of Dune). It’s much more complex and… I don’t know the word for it, but if you don’t pay 100% attention, you’ll miss something really vital. I found it was not a book I could just casually read while traveling, or being distracted in any way.

What a fantastic book though. The audiobook version was outstanding as well (available on 62+ E-Books Torrent Sites - Download Free E-Books ). Truly remarkable.

My other half bought me a copy of Jonathon Livingstone Seagull which I was reading at the time we met (1970). I’m thrilled to have another copy. Somebody must have borrowed mine.

I’m quite easy going in general, but people who borrow books or albums with no intention of returning them make my hands shake with the effort of not throttling them.

I spend many hours reading especially at night when I cannot sleep. My kindle is my favourite possession as I rarely watch television. My husband sits with the tv control next to his armchair and I am not interested in anything he watches. When my grandson visits he tells Grandad he must share the control lol.
