Was due to start my first role as a teacher in September. Suffered a relapse on Tysabri in July. Really struggled with mobility since. Ideally I want to get started in teaching but the timing of this relapse has crippled my short term work prospects, as it were.
Just seeking some general advice on possible jobs that could revolve around teaching but be a bit more hands off at this moment in time.
It’s not really me field - but could do you some kind of online tutoring? Your teaching qualifications would still be relevant and it would be experience within the field… but perhaps not as stressful as a physical school. You would have more control over working hours etc.
That’s just rotten luck - I’m so sorry. MS has a nasty habit of arriving just as we are establishing ourselves in the adult world and laying the foundations of career, relationship and family life. I am sorry that you have this to deal with, just when you have worked so hard snd are ready to launch yourself. What I will say is that Tysabri is very powerful once it gets a grip. Things might well settle down enough for you to reset and begin again in good health and strength. It’s kept me stable for many years and my ms was very active too. I hope that you find the same
I recently finished up working in adult distance learning for the past 18 years, albeit not the last 2 due to ill health, I didn’t tutor as it was an auxiliary role.
It was much more suitable for me as I felt able to work at a measured pace, which is ideal for people with a disability, I very much doubt if I could do that in my before job as a holiday rep.
Good luck,
JP
