Whiling away the days...what do you watch i.e. series or films.

I dont have a T.V. Shock horror lol. refuse to watch news too depressing. so after my lunch at 1pm me and doglet snuggle down on recliner to watch some media on Nowtv, amazon or netflix on my laptop.

I do this for about 2 hours then we get up and i take doglet for a walk on my wheelchair or scooter.

I have gone through all the Chicago trilogy, PD, MEDS and FIRE, greys anatomy and sister series Station 19, SWAT (FOR HONDO LOL), 911 and 911 Lone star. I have watched about 10 Christmas films on netflix lol. (I know but the snow makes me feel nice and cool and i love the daft and easy scripts).

Then i saw a title it was simple one just SWEET TOOTH. My curiosity aroused I wondered what it was about, could it be the aftermath of rotten teeth i thought lol…what a weird title.

I quickly did google IMDB and saw it had a massive following and amaziing reviews and got the gist of its story line.

Now i am 70 and not into Fantasy sci fi apocolypse type things no way but i was intrigued. So well I HAD nothing much else to watch so snuggled up with my doglet and was still there 3 hours later oops. I had watched half of it without moving lol.

I have now finished it. It was a very thought provoking DARK series. Kind of could have been about covid. It showed you how humans turn against each other when they should be helping each other, discrimination, laying blame, persecuting people because they were different, it was very thought provoking, and make me think more about our situation now. It incorporated 3 other story lines which came together at the end. adolescent awakening, FEAR, how others dealt with a virus pandemic (thank god we didnt go that far now lol). Also friendships developing in strange circumstances.

I gave it a full 10 stars on imdb. I hope they make a season 2.

Now my problem is what do i watch next lol…any ideas?

The young lead actor was simple amazing.

I don’t watch much TV at all. I can’t remember the plot of series’ (dam MS cognitive *#§€^={). Even when we’ve watched one episode of something per night, by day 3 I’ve forgotten the characters, what happened in episode #1 and just have to give up.

And I can’t binge watch like I used to. There’s only so much time in the day and I end up spending too many hours in the bathroom (stoma takes ages as does regular enemas - twice a week at present).

So I watch University Challenge and Only Connect (when they’re on). And that’s about it. Meanwhile Mr Sssue watches all those clever crime series’ in multiple languages. He loves sport too, so there’s cycling, football, cricket, athletics, so much sport.

I read (even though I don’t remember the plot of books once finished). I spend time on here, talk (a bit) to friends on WhatsApp and Zoom, and spend ages in the bathroom on my digestive system and the effluent that results!!

I used to miss TV, but don’t anymore. Just out of the habit.

CC, I could’ve written your first two paragraphs! I thought it was just me.

Do you have access to “Bones”, “Rizzoli & Isles”, or “Blue Bloods” over there? They’re among my top picks for fictional TV series’ and seem like they’d go well with that first group you listed.

I have a stack of movies I need to watch, but I’ve found I rarely have the attention span for them any more but don’t want to stop halfway through and try to pick it back up another day. Mum found a site that sells affordable BBC programs that’ll work on our machines, so she’s been buying a lot of documentaries and histories.

I do still read, just not as much as before. Right now I’m in the middle of a combination serial killer/really lame romance novel, alternating with a National Geographic book on covert operations during WWII.

watched them all lol.

i am like @Ssssue i watch things forget the plot so i can re watch them lol. I have watched MASH 1 to 11 about 4 times now and still dont remember all the stories.

I tend to watch something and wander off on the internet and just listen to the dialogue. I have been watching HEARTLAND, THEN go off and buy something on ebay lol, come back and think oh i dont remember that lol. I have no concentration but stick with it.

I love the christmas movies as they take no brain lol. women inherits xmas tree farm, falls in love with nasty man and all is great in the world kind of thing lol. I love the snow scenes as they make me feel cooler.

I cant read books I bought the book on MS and food, overcoming MS, it wasnt that cheap. I opened read a few bits and thought your having a laugh it was so complicated. I gave it away.

I do like youtube for things like that as i can just listen without much effort lol.

I prefer to look out the window and watch the birds devouring all the food again lol. fighting over it and naughty baby starlings as big as parents demanding more nosh lol.

I dont watch anything BBC. (I have my reasons).

I hate T.V. its all the same rubbish.

I belong to Live science an on line information place it has some amazing stuff on there. i can pick it up when i feel like it.

i try not to be on laptop in morning as it makes my eyes tired so i watch after lunch. but sometimes life is boring and its raining so i have no options lol. xxx

Yup I too struggle with books so I now have an account with Listening books charity. ÂŁ20 per year for unlimited access to their library. I have listened to loads of stuff ranging from brilliant to average and some total crap. I still forget stuff so have heard some books several times. Even the rubbish books are better than most TV programmes . M

MASH was my go-to program for years! I have them all but haven’t watched in a while. Klinger and HotLips just had a meet-and-greet in the next county last month. I would’ve loved to have seen them, but even without Covid I hate crowds.

I’ve found a good shop that sells used DVD’s, which is the only way I can afford any of them. Mum and I keep a running list of who owns what, and we trade back and forth. BBC to us is just kind of like the caviar & truffles of the TV world.

What about the CSI’s or any of the Law & Orders? NCIS or JAG?

For actual movies, have you seen “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”? It’s currently my favorite.

You’ve given me some ideas to use for Mum. She’s convinced that she’s going to wind up blind, and the fear of being unable to read is overwhelming her at times. I know we can get books read aloud, but I’ll have to see if there’s something she can access online.

I’ve been binge-watching ‘Secret Army’ on DVD (BBC 1978) It’s a complete set of three series, totaling some 42 episodes. (Couldn’t quite manage them all in one binge).

It’s the one set in a Belgian cafe in WWII where the resistance run the escape line to get shot-down Britsh airmen back home. (NOT the tacky so called comedy on a similar theme).
