Where to begin,!! BARBARIC Malfunction wheelchair, broken smashed leg, ridiculous state.

Hi All, ive had a horrific year, my electric wheelchair malfunctioned, catapulted me in the air, crashed on my block brick paving driveway. Smashed my femur in many places, had major surgery, rods from knee in to hip, plates, screws etc - multiple blood transfusions. In for week’s, back home for days, back in for weeks with suspected sepsis etc etc. This went on for months. Never once had covid - survived that! and got it on a filthy ward, then had an anaphylaxis because antibiotics wasnt working.

I suffered neglect, racial abuse, was on my back for weeks, not moved and got a sore they put down as a rash!! I did complain to the CM of whole hospital. Dont bother with chocolate tea pots likePALS.

The here and now, received a new wheelchair, unbeknown to me my bottom was subjected to being on bare metal, whole area, is red, sore and damaged, in agony and cant roll on my front completely on front because of rods. TVN came out with Tegaderm, that would rip my skin off in an already violated area!!

Ive never known such incompetence hospital, district nurses, tvns and wheelchair services.

Because i am off legs and they don’t know how to deal with it, manual handling, bi lateral lymphodema (large legs because lymphatic system isnt working) put me on a dementia ward every time, including once a violent dementia ward with one mail nurse to break things up and they could all walk - I couldnt! Made yet again another complaint and was moved after 6 hours! Im at a loss and im tired of fighting to get the help that I need and not be left in such a state that most people would have committed suicide. Id love to go to the press (my local paper, isnt worth reading, but woulr gladly go on tv with my face blurred out.

Does anyone have private Tissue viability nurses? Anyoneelse been subjected to these situations?

Im a strong willed woman, always have been - but this is draining.

Charlotte,

That sounds horrendous. I am really sorry to hear of your horrible times, sadly all I can offer is sympathy. You are obviously a very strong person, I think I would have dissolved in a puddle of tears if I had to deal with a quarter of this stuff. I really hope you have some friends or family to lean on.
All the best
Mick
