Waiting on brain/spine scan and neurology appointment

Hi all,

I’m new here. I am not diagnosed but have been having symptoms for around 2 years that flagged up MS.

First the symptoms started in my head. I would have a pain that felt like electric currents or that of being stabbed, always in the same spot, this then progressed to my eye also the same side as head pain. I would get an ache in the top of my head and the back of my eye. I went to the gp and was given some kind of anti depressants that are supposed to help with headpain from nerves. Anyhows this continued and last year my joints started to get painful and muscle aches. I developed weakness in one arm which led to trembling hands when carrying something. My arm started to go completely dead no feeling at all, I would have to lift it with my other hand to try and get feeling back. My leg started going numb from the knee down, pins and needles. Iv recently started having spasms in my calf and my foot. I forget what I’m talking about mid sentence and recently I started getting a numbness feeling in my face/chin.

I moved doctors and was given b12 injections but after this recent "flare up " I had to inform gp that this was not working. I have now been referred to neurology and waiting an appointment and also a brain and spine scan.

Just put of curiosity does any one else suffer with the one bad eye and also see flashes once in a while like a white flash and its gone ( same bad eye).
Thanks for having a read x

Interestingly, it’s only just occurred to me, reading your post, that white flashes might be related?

I had my first proper flair up a few years ago and am currently having my second. As I write this my left leg feels like it’s on a vibrating plate! I’m not diagnosed as yet and am in the queue for a MRI in a few weeks. However, I have had the white flashes that you describe. To be honest I hadn’t realised the two might be related? However, all my previous lesions were c spine and not in the brain or optic area.

Keep on smiling the vibrating in the left leg do you get it in your foot as well? I’ve been getting a vibration in my right foot that started a couple of weeks ago but is now fairly constant, it’s only prominent in my right foot, however I’m having muscle twitches in my right foot up to my right toe, and in the left side of my ankle, With the occasional one in my thigh. Do you ever get any of these? I’m in the middle of trying to get to the bottom of this and am not diagnosed. The doctors are putting in down to a trapped nerve somewhere at the moment but I feel it could be something more serious, thanks

Yes I do. Luckily this current flair up is on the way out.
Many best suggestion is to keep a detailed log of symptoms which will hopefully build up a picture over time.

I will definitely keep a log, would you be as kind to describe your symptoms for me please? Just so I can compare, do you get pains in a specific foot or anything? Thankyou

I’ve had different ones. Recently it’s been as if I was stood on a vibrating plate when I’m not. Or it feels like I’m shivering but not moving. Or like I’ve got my Phone going off in my pocket when it isn’t.

Ah okay that’s what it feels like in my foot, do you get muscle twitching too in your feet? Like fasculations? Little movements you can see but not doing yourself?

Yes but less so in my feet. Usually in my arms or legs.

Thankyou for taking your time to reply to me, let us know what the outcome of your results are and I’ll do the same for mine

The unknown sucks doesn’t it. I swear I’m going mad half the time!!

Well it didn’t take long from writing this post to getting an mri appointment through.

On the 29th July I am booked in for

Head
Spine cervical
Thoracic
Lumbar and sacral

As anyone had all these at the same time and remember how long it took and how long for the results? X

Wow that was quick! The doctor started my referral to the neuro yesterday but said it could be up to three months before I can see anyone!

Good luck and keep us posted!
